Folk May Be Released or Put on IR...Kicker Search Underway

Jose Cortez: Return to Dallas

It will be such a huge event in history, they'll make a movie with 4 sequels about it.

Sorry about that did not know that.

Prop him up and push him at high speeds towards the ball and hope for the best. Probably an improvement over Folk at this point.

Remember how proud Jerry was of himself for drafting Buehler? Seems like a lot of teams have guys who can boom kick-offs deep AND hit FGs. Part of the reason Folk hasn't been cut or IR'ed or whatever is they just don't want to admit failure.

There's only 9 other teams with kickers that average one TB per game. I question your definition of "a lot" - most don't.

I don't see that happening.

Did you watch how the Commanders lost to the Saints?

A high snap threw off his timing. Maybe he should have made it anyway, but the play was flawed from the get-go.

I thought we got rid of suisham or did he leave for a bugger contract

That's like close to 1/3rd of the league. Point is if you are going to carry a kick-off specialist, shouldn't he be able to kick FGs in a pinch too?

Maybe next Spring we can draft a guy who can only attempt onsides kicks. Then in '11 we can look for a kicker who specializes in free kicks after safeties.

Boring whine.

This will be a second life for Suisham if he makes it in Dallas.
He spit the bit and was part of the failed decade of kickers the Cowboys have had. It would be interesting to see the history of the kickers prior to Folk for Dallas.

Cowboys PK Update --
Mon Dec 21, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com
#
The Dallas Morning News reports according to sources, free-agent PK Shaun Suisham is scheduled to workout as a potential replacement for Cowboys PK Nick Folk on Monday, and the team made more calls on other kickers, including PK Dave Rayner, on Sunday.

ESPN:
The Cowboys are not considering veteran Jason Elam due to injury. He was released by Atlanta on Dec. 1 and has ties with Wade Phillips from their days with the Denver Broncos.

I'm not wishing for his release at all. I hope he goes on IR and gets healthy for next yr. He was too good for too long (two full seasons). I'd hate to see him cut loose and go elsewhere, then turn into a bigtime kicker again.

I'm 100% buying the mechanics issue in terms of he is compensating for the hip injury, and its got him ina major funk.

Oh, and the thread title needs to be changed, he hasnt been released.

My thoughts exactly. If he's released, he doesn't last a week before some team out of the playoffs with a kicking problem picks him up. 1) He was too good his first two years. 2) He's still young 3) He had off season surgery that threw him off.

I hope IR is a possibility because despite the fact that I want to see him on the team for next years training camp, we can't afford to have him kicking any more this year.
