you like to focus on all the bad the kid does out on the field, but hardly want to bring up the good things he does in the blocking department sealing blocks and making holes, you just love to focus on the playmaking department.. he may not have met your expectations but he still did a lot of the things he was asked to do well. but hey focus on the drops and his twitter/youtube career and form your opinion on him as a player

Multiple sources including some who claim to have heard it from inside Valley Ranch (those janitors are talking again) say Bennett broke off routes, blew some, dropped too many balls. And that the reason all give for it is a lack of concentration and dedication. Jerruh's call out seems to support this. Right now for good reason Tony probably does not trust him - and that is a telling factor. Add in how well Phillips has looked in games and it seems clear that Bennett is being given a grow up or hit the road ultimatum.

I really wish someone will expand on this. What exactly did Phillips do with his 7 receptions for many to be calling on him to not only replace MartyB but Anderson too? 7 receptions and people have come to the conclusion that Romo trusts him.

Don’t get me wrong I like Phillips but I wonder how much love he would be getting if he was a 2nd round pic.

Bennett's smart, and he's got talent. There's no way to say right now whether or not he'll tap into it. It could be he needs something as simple as being deactivated during a game, or having Phillips take some of his pre-season snaps to get him focussing. Maybe having the owner call him out is enough. Personally, I think if Witten were out and Bennett were actually starting and the team depending on him, we'd see his best games. He strikes me as the kind of guy who's bright and immature and has a hard time focussing in a backup role.

Either way, he's not a prototypical person, and assuming he won't have a successful pro career at this point based on available evidence is foolish.

You obviously wrote that without looking up what other teams have done in the second round. There are several teams who have done far worse.

I didn't have to look it up but I'm willing to wager the Cowboys would be in the top 5 worst drafting teams the past 10 years in the second round. Just look at what they've come up with.

2000-Dwayne Goodrich...BUST!

2001-Quincy Carter...BUST!

2002- Andre Gurode...the only real quality second rounder we drafted the past decade. Antonio Bryant...showed some potential but was a head case and only last 3 seasons in Dallas.

2003-Al Johnson...BUST!

2004-Jacob Rogers...MEGA BUST! This dud never even saw the field!

2005-Kevin Burnett...Not a bad player but couldn't stay healthy and never saw a second contract. He was allowed to walk.

2006-Anthony Fasano...Was traded away 2 years later with another player for a measly 4th round draft pick.

2007-We didn't have a pick

2008-Martellus Bennett...Refer to this thread. LOL

2009-We didn't have a pick.

Care to give a grade for our second round selections the past decade? LOL See how many teams you can find that have drafted worse in the second round than the Cowboys from 2000-2009. Have fun!

So you have no problem with Bennetts lack of production or how he conducts himself off the field? LOL Hey at least I didn't start a thread bad mouthing Romo after his 3 turnovers and 66.1 passer rating vs the Vikings. Sorry if my standards for the team and QB are higher than yours.
