Another example of being too quick to judge.

How many times have we seen this from Cowboys fans?

Bradie James comes to mind. Andre Gurode. Anthony Spencer. Maybe Mike Jenkins. And that's just from the current roster.

Why are we so quick to write off young players just because they haven't met our expectations and still are in need of development?

I bet a lot of you are glad others didn't do that when you were young and stupid. And if you're young and stupid now (which some members appear to be) be glad people are still bearing with you while you develop.

I agree. I do think he needs to do some growing up but he is not a bad kid getting into trouble just needs to grow up. He will be entering his 3rd season so hopefully he will show the abilities he does have.

I wish he would apply himself on the field as much as he does with his crappy rap music. When you have a player who's representing an NFL organization cursing fans online and can't get their assignments straight on the field and isn't living up to their draft status they're going to receive alot of criticism. If Marty wants to be a celebrity he should try improving his game on the field. That will get him alot more fans than his lousy rap music and acting like a jerk online. Alot of Romo's comments and off the field actions garnered him criticism when his play wasn't good. His work ethic was in question and fans complained that he was focusing too much on golf and Jessica and not enough on football. Anytime a player isn't getting it done on the field you start looking at what they're doing off the field.

Any Cowboys player who isn't living up to the standards set for them (often unfairly) are going to take heat, whether it's because of how immature they come off, not attempting to tackle a running back, not getting sacks, etc.

If it isn't one excuse for our lack of patience, it's another.

All young players who are drafted high are going to take some heat if they're not living up to expectations but in Bennett's case he's bringing some of the heat on himself by how immature he acts off the field. Wade cracked a joke during the season when a reporter asked him if he thought Bennett was mature and Wade said he's mature on the field. :laugh2: If Bennett wouldn't act like such an idiot I don't think he would be taking as much heat because we have Jason Witten and Bennett wasn't drafted to be a starter. There's no question he has talent but he has to apply himself and gain Romo's trust and not knowing his assignments isn't going to gain him anyones trust.

Jerry was an idiot for not trading this lazy immature idiot when he had the chance. I've been watching football a long time and I've never seen a player come off as IMMATURE as Bennett and go on to become a solid football player. All this dope does is stream himself live online and make STUPID Youtube videos showcasing his immaturity. When you criticize him for being lazy he gets angry saying we don't see him in practice and that he's doing what's being asked of him. True we don't see him in practice except for what we saw on Hard Knocks a couple of years ago which certainly wasn't encouraging but when you listen to how he comes off when he's being himself at home online he doesn't strike me as being dedicated to football or having the work ethic to be a great player. The guy has talent but to become a real good player it takes more than talent. This GOOF is more interested in making dumb video's and becoming a celebrity rapper than a good football player. This is just a SMALL example of the kind of crap he posts online to build his fan base because his play on the field certainly isn't drawing him any support. He makes these video's during the season moaning about having to leave for a team meeting or go to practice. The guy is an embarrassment and I wouldn't be surprised if he's traded during the offseason. John Phillips showed he can step in and get the job done. To become a solid football player it takes dedication and hard work and Bennett doesn't appear to give a ****.

Multiple sources including some who claim to have heard it from inside Valley Ranch (those janitors are talking again) say Bennett broke off routes, blew some, dropped too many balls. And that the reason all give for it is a lack of concentration and dedication. Jerruh's call out seems to support this. Right now for good reason Tony probably does not trust him - and that is a telling factor. Add in how well Phillips has looked in games and it seems clear that Bennett is being given a grow up or hit the road ultimatum.
