Here is what former players and some media persons said about turner

Passing game coordinator Terry Robiskie was named interim head coach. In his first meeting with the team, he made an impassioned speech and received a standing ovation.

"Terry is blunt and to the point," defensive end Kenard Lang said. "He's like a stick of dynamite. He's going to make something happen."
Quote:
It was stark contrast to Turner, an Xs and Os strategist who never came across as an effective
communicator or motivator.
"Norv did not threaten players," guard Keith Sims said. "Some guys took advantage of him. Terry -- you're not going to take advantage of him."

"I believe to get anyone to believe in you, trust you, you've got to motivate, and that's my coaching style," Robiskie said.

his inability to keep players focused and motivated led to his downfall.

"We saw where the traction was being lost," co-owner Fred Drasner said. "We were like a 4-wheel drive in the mud. Either you keep spinning the wheels, or you go get the winch. I think we chose to get the winch, and the winch was Terry."

Wide receiver Michael Westbrook says Turner may be to blame for a loss or two.

Washington's Tre Johnson insists Turner was too nice.

Yea man, and Robiskie turned that ship right around.

Give me a break. Does Tony Dungee yell at people? Did you hear what they said during the Super Bowl? Speaking in a normal tone he said to his team, listen to me right now, because this is as loud as its going to get.

you don't have to yell or shout in order to gain respect, believe it or not, but whatever the case may be, Norv never got it in any stop, that's pretty indicative

Did you even read all of the post, or listen to the links?

His teams walked on him, they didnt respect him. They said he lost them games

Who should we believe the people who played for him as a HC or the fans that are thinking they will get to re-live the mid 90s if he comes back?

I dont hink Norv will be a terrible HC but Just like I dont want Jimmy back the past was to long ago for these football guys to return...Cant live in the past move forward...
Norv still is still more unproven as a HC than some others that are available...
Also he proved as a HC he is No genius but he could be decent

I believe that it has more to do with the players than the coach when it comes to having a "nice" coach.

For crying out loud....look at who the Champions are....the Colts. I would dare say that Dungy is an even NICER guy than Turner.

Not to mention that when Dungy took the job in Indy, he told the ownership that football is NOT his #1 priority and he would be burning the candle at both ends.

Sometimes, it's these guys that live football that begin to out-think themselves.

I just love posters who solely ferret out ambiguous or negative comments about a former head coach and make it appear the players in the NFL are totally against them.

Name me one coach or player who absolutely has zero detractors. Conveniently left out of your attempted Turner assassination are any positive comments that players and coaches have generated about him. And there are a number of players and coaches who endorse Turner's candidacy of head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. And they are not echoing this from the 90s, they are commenting in the present.

Having lived and died with his team for seven years, I feel qualified to offer as informed an opinion as anyone else.

Norv is a good guy. He's smart and he works hard. He cares about his players and he wants to win as bad as the next guy. You can hear it in his voice, see it on his face and read it in his body language.

His offense can be a symphony when he gets inside a DC's head and on a play-calling roll.

Sometimes his teams will put on a show for 4 quarters and post an impressive win over a good opponent and have you thinking, "damn, we're on our way." And he'll get you to a key game with all signs pointing to a win.

And then his team will fail to show up, and get rolled. Often against clearly lesser opponents. Worse, his team will often play well enough to win in a big game, even dominate statistically ... and still maddeningly, repeatedly, find a new and creative mind-numbing, gut-wrenching way to give the game away.

Norv Turner won't give you a 5-11 team.

He'll give you a team just good enough to break your heart.

Year after year after year.
