I don't agree with that.

Depends on his play.

If he's still solid in 2016, I don't think a $5 mill base is unrealistic.

The deal is fair for both sides and your right about it actually being a true 3 year deal. By the 3rd year Dallas is deciding if they want to save $5M vs paying the $7M to keep him.

Top RTs are avging $7M a year right now, so $5M total for a 2016 salary is a fair deal, and $7M in year 3 is on par with the current salaries and means that Free played up to the contract.

(that is if my projected numbers are correct)

Now that we've re-signed free we need to draft a rookie either this year or next to back him up so when he either retires or doesn't re-sign in three years the next kid can step right in.

Yes that would be prudent ...... and save cap room in process. Tackles, even right tackles, are one of the positions that tend to take up a relatively larger chunk of the salary cap. Plus they generally take longer to get to their peak level of play than a skill position player.

Too funny

I wanted whoever signed for a 3m cap hit first. Free was quicker and wins the job.

Yeah, I would have been ok with either but preferred Free. He just played a little better and he was a leader on that line last year. The only thing I liked better with Parnell was his age but OL play well into their 30's, so no big deal.

The other OL really liked Free and so do the coaches. Nice signing.

geez, I wonder if all of you guys taking shots at @xwalker would be commenting if Dallas had signed Parnell and not Free?

...let it go....I personally don't think Parnell is better than Free, and I am very happy that Free is still going to be on the OLine for Dallas, but I am not going to take shots at Parnell or xwalker....heck, he could still sign with Dallas (although, that is highly unlikely)

Great news....now Durant, McClain....
Murray & Dez of course...then Carter, but I think he will be gone.

That would get all the "must have" guys signed
I think Rivers replaces Carter - although I hope I'm wrong.

Back on topic: glad to have Free back. We need to draft a developmental RT to groom. I think this means Parnell is a goner.

Doug Free 3yrs 15mil 6mil guaranteed Another solid contract for the Cowboys. @xwalker again i'm right. Didnt i say 3yrs? lol Dude ur 0-2 so far.

All you've predicted is that the Cowboys would give the Vikings a 2nd round pick for Peterson.

Maybe not, but I would have eventually gotten him back for his jokes about me crying about Aaron Donald. It was meant good naturedly just like it was when X joked with me.

Fantastic signing for the Boys. Jerry and Stephen executing the plan just like they told us.
You will see the same activity for the next 10 days as the concentrate on signing their own
players with available cap space. Off season coming together just like clockwork.

I admit when im wrong. All the time. the reason im gloating is because he seems to think he is 100% right and i shouldnt question that. xwalker has good opinions. But he acts like his are the only ones that are valid.

This I can agree with...paybacks are good, but a lot of people are jumping on him just for being exuberant about a player....geez, start hating on me for wanting Murray back then!

nope never mentioned that. think you need to read that mock again. While i dont think that will happen. If you havent noticed i make mocks based on news and speculations on whats going on with the Cowboys. I made one with Dallas trading Dez to the raiders but i dont think thats going to happen. Its just Duda wanted to see how that would turn out. And it caught my attention too.

understood. and I do see that you admit when you are wrong...and, I am not trying to defend him, I was just calling it like I see it that there were A LOT of people commenting....almost like they were waiting for something to happen...will people retract if somehow Dallas signs Parnell as well? (rhetorical)

I know you are catching a lot of grief over the team signing Free over Parnell. I don't quite get why people want to pile on you over that. I have seen Parnell close up at games (within 15 feet) and I can tell you he is a mountain of a man....literally head and shoulders bigger than any other player on the team. It would not surprise me in the least if he goes to a team (who signs him at a bargain price) and we see him start to develop swiftly getting starting reps. He might not, but that's not really the point. The potential is there.

Then some of the same guys who are piling on you would be talking about how we let him get away and tons of "rueage".

Aah yes, it was even worse, you have them trading their 1st round pick away to get Peterson.

Lol in that front, he would def mention me in a post. But i had no doubt in my mind that Free would be the guy they resigned. He was important to this OL. Parnell is 1 yr younger than Free.

Here is something to ponder. It is possible that we have a future right tackle replacement already on the roster. They seem to be possessive of Weems, so maybe he turns out to be the guy. Just because we haven't seem him play much doesn't mean that he doesn't have future upside. Romo's/Austin's initial situations come to mind.

The RT market is pretty thin. Parnell should get way more money somewhere else, probably WAS.

LOL it was a scenario mock on Cowboys news. And i had Dallas trading down with Minnesota who have the 13th pick in RD2. Dallas wouldve gotten RD2, RD4, RD6 picks from Minnesota and Adrian Peterson. they get all that for moving down Nice try tho.
