So it's OK to say things like Free was signed because of a "clique" in VR that pushed for him instead of Parnell or even say that Callahan wanted Parnell to start over Free but "management" over ruled him?

There is nothing wrong with having a pet cat and defending your opinion about him but don't make stuff up about the team when they don't agree with you.

Here is something to ponder. It is possible that we have a future right tackle replacement already on the roster. They seem to be possessive of Weems, so maybe he turns out to be the guy. Just because we haven't seem him play much doesn't mean that he doesn't have future upside. Romo's/Austin's initial situations come to mind.

They also stashed Donald Hawkings on the roster who they picked off Bengals practice squad.

Has nothing to do with cliques. Anybody who listened to whats going on with the Cowboys knew Free was going to be resigned over Parnell. He's the better player and its not like Parnell is a spring chicken learning how to play OT. He's going to be 29 in july still learning how to play OT. But certain posters tried to tell us he was the best thing to happen to the OL this yr lol.

LOL it was a scenario mock on Cowboys news. And i had Dallas trading down with Minnesota who have the 13th pick in RD2. Dallas wouldve gotten RD2, RD4, RD6 picks from Minnesota and Adrian Peterson. they get all that for moving down Nice try tho.

That's still the equivalent of at least a 3rd round pick for a RB that has 12.27M salary.

This is an excellent move by the organization.............only $6 million guaranteed is the key............If Free starts sucking, we can pull the eject lever and not be crippled with a big cap hit.

Also, Free is 31 which is not very old for an offensive lineman so I really don't see age as a factor in letting Parnell walk and keeping Free. I think it came down to production and Murray averaged more yards per rush when Free was in the game compared to Parnell.

Free's main problem is pass blocking consistently, but he is a great in run blocking.

105.3 The Fan just reported 3 years, $15 million.

yup with 6mil in guarantees. so if this is accurate he's a 3mil per yr guy. Great signing.

Considering Dallas lack of cap room right now id assume his first yr base is really low. probably vet minimum. And that 3rd yr is probably the high base salary yr.

15M divided by 3 is 5M.

Dallas avgs 5.18 yrds rushing behind Free. Highest among all its OL.

Haven't seen the deets yet but it could be

4.5m signing bonus 6m guaranteed
1.5m + 1.5m= 3m cap hit
3m + 1.5m= 4.5m cap hit
6m + 1.5m= 7.5m cap hit

or

6m signing bonus
1m + 2m= 3m cap hit
3m + 2m= 5m cap hit
5m + 2m= 7m cap hit

I can see the first one more likely.

I think you got it (or close) with the first one. Beasley got 4 million bonus on his 13 + contract. 7 million of his was guaranteed, although I think some of that is just for injury.

I was fine with Free or Parnell. Glad we got one of them locked up.

would rather have gone with the healthier and younger guy but I am betting Parnell will get a fair amount more where ever he goes. This is pretty bargain basement actually. Even if we only keep him 2 years that is only $6 million total for a good starting RT.

NOW the key is finding the swing guy that can get it done. Boys have two candidates on the roster now and we will definitely be seeing them put to the test in Camp.

They've kept him around for a reason. We won't really know for sure until we see him in live game action. But you're right that Weems should not be dismissed from discussion as swing tackle with potential to take over in 2 years. The scouting report is he has good feet, balance, arm length and quickness similar to Parnell. The one knock is lack of power in run game which is something than can improve.

As i stated im talking about base salary. 6mil has basically already been paid to him. im willing to bet you anything you want, this yrs cap charge wont be 5mil.

Obviously, the cap charge will be lower in year 1. The first year cap hit is always lower than the contract average.

Is this another attempt to state the obvious and then claim you were right about something?
