And in his previous three years when he was actually younger, he totaled nine in three years....no thanks, just because he had a decent year, although short lived because of injury, he was part of a great defense in Arizona, Dallas is nowhere near as good as Arizona's defense...last year was last year....you don't waste your time on aging veterans in a young man's game that is the NFL.....

Except for the fact that Dallas has done in numerous times recently. They've repeatedly added veteran 'bridge players' to the mix while developing younger players.

They've done it with George Selvie, Henry Melton, Jeremy Mincey, and Nick Hayden and they can do it again with a guy like Freeney. He's better than what this team has.

Anthony Spencer in 2011? Dwight Freeney certainly won't in 2016.

Neither will anyone else.

His 8 sacks last year tied him for the Cowboys' team lead in sacks. And he did that playing just 11 games.

He's better than what this team currently has.

I agree and right now we have some maturity issues with some players who seem to think they can get high and play this game, they are dead wrong and yet continue to do so. I'm all for having younger players out there but they need to step up and act like men and go earn it not handed to them. Freeney is a professional and as you mentioned in limited action still produced 8 sacks and was a disruptive force when in the game.

It's only guaranteed if he's on the opening week roster. That's why you'll see a lot of vets cut on the final cut down only to be resigned (by any team) after the first game. If signed after the first game, teams can cut the player at any point in the season and owe them nothing.
Those vets aren't borderline HoFers though. I seriously doubt that Freeney won't be on a team after week 1.

Pass! next pile of steaming garbage please?

Marinelli says let the young guns compete and all is well. Geez, it's not even TC yet and people are
jumping off the bridge.

We go with our guys and if we fall flat in week one then look into all our FA options.

Yeah, but Marinelli also refers to some of the worst pass rushers in the entire league as 'Rushmen' too, so there's that.

And by that point, he's signed elsewhere. Nobody's waiting to sign in Dallas, just ask Jason Jones, the latest guy to say 'no thanks!'

Freeney is still the best pass rusher on this team not named Lawrence, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, we're incredibly vet averse when we have younger bodies at a position.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. In all honesty, he's probably going to get injured at some point anyway, so the young guys can develop a little more while working in a rotation instead of seeing full time snaps.

I also think some of the younger DL, which we have numerous of, would benefit quite a bit from having him around. Freeney has gotten by on pure hustle, he's a pro.

Doubt we even really look at him though, and I think someone will sign him in TC.

Who cares, we got by with Mincey and a guy off the couch. All's well and let's get the guys in TC so we can
see what we may have before we start paying old guys way past their prime.

Well, Dallas has the Cap Space, spend it!

He is literally the only available free agent at this point that I think would be an upgrade on our team.

While I am most keen on Freeney (at a deal structured to both parties' advantage), you don't think one of the still unsigned vet corners (e.g., Cromartie) would be an upgrade over our current options for nickel/dime packages? Also provide more experienced depth...
