Julius and Akin Ayodele will be on a BET special Friday night at 10:00 PM Eastern. Here is an excerpt of what JuJo says about The Tuna.

Jones on his relationship with former coach Bill Parcells:

” … Coach Parcells my first year, he (Parcells) kind of let me do what I wanted to do, second year and last year he kind of coached me too much, … . You know, you can’t really mess with a running back out there. You can tell them where to go and where the hole is gonna be … … He had me running like a robot. No disrespect to coach Parcells but, you can’t really tell a running back where to run or he’s gonna be out there looking like a robot. That’s what I was doing last year.”

Ayodele on if teammate Terrell Owens had a part in former coach Bill Parcells leaving the Dallas Cowboys:

“It had nothing to do with T.O. I think for coach Parcells it was his time. He felt like he had a window, you know four or five years and we didn’t win it. We came up short … ”

For those of you who say it wasn't Parcells, well, there you go.

I been saying this for 2 years:starspin

I am dissapointed in JJ for making excuses. A great runningback makes plays no matter what .....

What he is saying may be true ...... but he should have been man enough to say these things when Parcells was here .....

Usually the speaker (you) does not know of what he speaks of.

Unless you have been in your post-nuclear bunker you'd have to know that no one could -- or should have tried -- to express an opinion under the parcells regime.

Be a man and speak up? No, mein pettite.

It would have done no good to talk to man boobs. he's set on his ways and no one and no logic can sway him.

JJ just said the way it was. Parcells probably wanted him to run like a robot and that took a toll on JJ's production. Just like man boobs wanted the defensive line to play like robots. And you know where that got us.

Ding-dong the witch is dead.
Look for JJ to have a breakout year now that Mr. My Way or The Highway has left the building.:D

It is interesting that in the PLAYOFF game Barber was virtually non existent. It could be that BP was sending a message- but to do it in a PLAYOFF game?

Marion Barber isn't starting material. I'll argue that with anyone...

And with JJ "resting" on the sidelines as per man boobs wishes, what were the totals for Barber vs. JJ?
Anybody have their rushing averages?

Julius Jones and Akin Ayodele are going to be on a show called Ballers on BET this Friday (May 4th) at 10 pm EST. In the press release to announce the show, BET included this remark from Julius Jones’ portion of the show.

Jones on his relationship with former coach Bill Parcells:

" ... Coach Parcells my first year, he (Parcells) kind of let me do what I wanted to do, second year and last year he kind of coached me too much, ... . You know, you can’t really mess with a running back out there. You can tell them where to go and where the hole is gonna be ... ... He had me running like a robot. No disrespect to coach Parcells but, you can’t really tell a running back where to run or he’s gonna be out there looking like a robot. That’s what I was doing last year."
There you have it. I’ve heard JJ make comments like this before but this one pretty much sums up his feelings. He now joins Marcus Spears as the 2nd Cowboy to explicitly blame Parcells for some of their issues on the field. You two guys better make good under Wade Phillips, or else explanations turn to excuses.

This quote also reminded me about a clip of Parcells, I believe it was from this year’s training camp. Parcells is seen standing behind the offensive huddle during training camp and he turns to talk to Jason Fabini. I will paraphrase what happened next.

Parcells (to Jason Fabini): "Hey J, did you see that? He’s my compu-back. I just send in the play..." (here Parcells mimes typing in a play on a computer keyboard, while calling out the formation and play. He even makes the click-clack noise of a keyboard being struck while typing. When done, he addresses Fabini again.) "Then compu-back goes..." (Parcells mimes being a robot running back and makes sounds effects.)

That’s not the exact wording of the clip, but it’s close. I think Parcells was attempting to equate the running back with a video game running back; you just put in the play and watch him go. He was trying to phrase it as a compliment, kind of like a robotic running back that can’t be stopped. But the Julius Jones’ comments made me think immediately of that Parcells clip. Maybe Julius is right, maybe Parcells was coaching JJ to be a "compu-back" instead of a free-wheeling running back. Either way, Julius shouldn’t have that problem this year. Unless Wade Phillips wants a compu-back, too.

so over coaching made JJ run into his own lineman?
Just trying to wrap my head around that one.

This jones vs barber arguement has been on for a while. we can compare statistics or make excuses for one or the other.....but my take is quite simple....after watching last year how can anyone say that jones ran with the same authority that barber did.

I felt that the offense was much more in rhythm with barber than with jones. I remember Romo had to bail us out of quite a few 3rd and longs when jj lost yards on 2nd down.

Jones fans are quick to point out the he is faster and more likely to break a long one. But i dont think anyone would call him a dominant runner.

Barber is a dominating runner, the question is whether he could handle 20 carries a game and still run over people.

Id like to find out.

and it made him fall everytime when shoestring tackled at the LOS.

didnt parcells also tell him once "sometimes you have to make your own holes" and its not always going to be where you think it will be, sometime you have to improvise ?

Interesting. That's the first time I've heard this story.

I like Julius, hope he has a great year next year. But Parcells coaching didn't hurt Curtis Martin.

The offseason is for chirping. And alot of folks have done it. So, ya know, we'll see.

I'm with you. I think Coach was overbearing but you can't blame him for everything. I see both sides. I do think Parcells tried to make him over like a Otis Anderson. And I would like to see JJ run with more abandon and perhaps a little lighter. But this is a tempest in a teapot. He's finished chirping. Let's see him play.

Julius used to break ankles.
After reviewing much of last season,
he is not the same player.
Lets get back to that guy.

Yeah, hopefully he can do what he did the end of his rookie season when he pretty much took over games. Can you imagine a Julius of his rookie season paired with a Marion Barber and a the Romo we saw during that 6 game stretch.

I think that style was more suited to Curtis Martin's talents. I dont think he ever had the natural ability Julius had. No matter who comes out and says what, or whos fault it was, I don't care, I want results on the field.

That would be heavenly. I love the emotion generated when Julius is on. Remember that 70 yard run against New Orleans? I was soooo pumped, looking at the replay of TO hustling to block downfield. It's hard to believe that they went on to get blown out. Anyway, when Julius is playing well, it is contagious from the players' standpoint as well as the fans. We just haven't seen enough of it.

I remember seeing that clip. That whole feature on Parcells was pretty interesting. I liked having him as the coach because of his authority and charisma. And he did improve the talent level on this team. But to be honest, I'm glad he decided to hang it up. It was time.

He'll certainly have his opportunity next year. Nobody to blame, no more excuses.

MBIII doesn't seem to run like a robot. Or at least he runs like a pissed off robot.

MB3 was in his first season of significant playing time under Parcells. Look at what Julius looked like in his rookie season... he was raw and ran on pure instinct. Then, as Parcells kept coaching him... he looked more and more like a robot. MB3 ran on instinct and determination.

Although, this puts it all on Julius' shoulders now. Just like Spears. They talked about the coaching not allowing them to play using their abilities... now they HAVE to play well or their abilities are lacking. Personally, I think (hope) we'll see completely different players this season in JJ and Spears
