I like Julius, hope he has a great year next year. But Parcells coaching didn't hurt Curtis Martin.

Martin was never much of a nifty runner. His natural style is more like what Parcells wants from a running back. Julius' natural style -- and probably his best style -- is a little more instinctive.

Julius and Akin Ayodele will be on a BET special Friday night at 10:00 PM Eastern. Here is an excerpt of what JuJo says about The Tuna.

Jones on his relationship with former coach Bill Parcells:

” … Coach Parcells my first year, he (Parcells) kind of let me do what I wanted to do, second year and last year he kind of coached me too much, … . You know, you can’t really mess with a running back out there. You can tell them where to go and where the hole is gonna be … … He had me running like a robot. No disrespect to coach Parcells but, you can’t really tell a running back where to run or he’s gonna be out there looking like a robot. That’s what I was doing last year.”

Ayodele on if teammate Terrell Owens had a part in former coach Bill Parcells leaving the Dallas Cowboys:

“It had nothing to do with T.O. I think for coach Parcells it was his time. He felt like he had a window, you know four or five years and we didn’t win it. We came up short … ”

For those of you who say it wasn't Parcells, well, there you go.

I knew it! I guess no one wants to give me any more flak for my "dumbing down" comments from ages ago. Tell it like it is JJ.

I have no doubt that what JJ says is true.

First of all, an employee WOULDN'T say something like this while his boss is still around...at least not if he values his playing time.

Secondly, I had the feeling during the playoff game that JJ told himself he was going to run the way that he himself wanted to run....it was a blatantly different JJ in that game, plus he seemed much more pumped up like he was saying to himself "This is MY game."

Finally, JJ is simply saying something that MANY on this board have said for well over a year. You don't just go from running the way he did his rookie year to running essentially like he said....like a robot.

bs. if jj ran like he wanted to nothing would have changed. if jj went against what parcells told him to do and he happened to bounce a run outside for a td. what's bill gonna do? bench him? julius jones is full of it

What I don't get is he had good games last season against Tenn, Hou, Wash, Car and in the playoff game. So evidently BP did not hurt him in those games but we are to believe that BP hurt him in all the other games.

lol? I'm sure the gameplan was a lot less conservative against those teams too. We all know that the bigger the game, the more conservative Parcells was with the gameplan.

I think wether it is Parcells fault or not makes for a great debate.

What I do not see as even debatable is that JJ did not run last year like he did his rookie year.

Maybe JJ developed a case of the yips. I do not know what happened, but JJ was a better runner than he showed last year.

I absolutely think Parcells played a role in that, but I do not state that as a dogmatic fact but just my opinion.

Just like I think magically our pass rush will be better this year. Parcells is much like JJ. He was better early on than he was later on.

Actually, yes he would. BP was all about "Trust" and he said it over and over again...."Do I have confidence that the player will do what he is told....", etc.

If the player isn't doing what he is told, then the coach (BP) absolutely could and probably has benched the player.

Guy had half a good season and every one thought he was the future at RB.
I have never understood the love. after this season, when he does the same thing he did last season, what then? Matter of fact, I bet dollars to donuts he gets hurt this season and everyone will use that as an excuse.

It is incredible the way that the underachievers all come out of the woodwork to offer their hypothesis how one of the greatest football coaches ever just stifled their "game" and rendered them shells of their talented selves. It is nauseating and classless the way these players are behaving.

It seems like everyone has the case of the exaggeration flu.

All I heard JJ say was he ran a little more robotic under Parcells than he would have liked. That is all. He didn't denigrate the coach in anyway. He didn't call him a fat turd, or an old school coach whose time has passed.

It seems like the members of the board are letting their opinions of JJ get in the way of looking objectively at his comments.

To me, JJ has been a class act his entire stay in Dallas. I don't understand some of the vitriol he gets from some fans.

And I just pray more then ever that cleveland stinks so Julius can blame another coach elsewhere.

I would love nothing more then for Julius to just break out and show everyone he was held back but I highly doubt that happens. If he was so confident that he could be the back he predicted he could be a couple of years ago, you would have seen a couple plays where he just did his thing to prove a point.

We all saw how far Bledsoe got with that one. You either do what BP says, or you don't play.

I am dissapointed in JJ for making excuses. A great runningback makes plays no matter what .....

What he is saying may be true ...... but he should have been man enough to say these things when Parcells was here .....
agreed.

This little Parcells bashing that's going on from some of the players lately is highly unadmirable.

Hearing JuJo verbalize something like that is indeed disappointing, but he's right. He never ran "true," and he hasn't since his rookie year. It looks like he's concentrating too much. And you can't immediately discount JuJo because Parcells is a HOF coach, either. He's human. He's human enough to still use that 2-gap 3-4 when it's obvious the 1-gap is what "matters" in today's NFL. And he's certainly human enough to get inside a runner's head (a method that may have worked with every single other RB he's ever coached), when it's that one running back that needs a different approach.

That said, where did that Carolina game in 2005 come from? That certainly wasn't his first year, and the next week he ran abysmally against the Rams. There's a little bit to both sides. If Parcells didn't do a great job coaching him up, than he didn't do a good job playing consistently. I'm just glad we don't have to worry about this with MBIII now.

This is just a set up for disappointment. People are building this up already. Who knows where the need will be in another year? What if we have a pair of 1,000 yard rushers?

Blah-blah-blah. McFadden is coming, so you'd better hope you're right for your next paycheck's sake.

I just think parcells was set in his ways...his ways worked on the 86 and 90 giants...thats it...on those players...not on today's players...he should have adjusted...his ego and disposition wouldnt let him...julius could have ran for 1500 yards last year...he will this year unless he gets hurt...which could happen
