No other human knows how to step up and embrace failure the way Jerry does.I dont see it like that. Just another dumb, out of place joke from Jerry.
It’s his dumb way of telling everyone that he is still the man in Dallas.
Either way he is insulting himself. First of all he is admitting the lack of success. 2nd he blames the coach, even thought he is joking its low class. 3rd hes the one that hires the coaches. No other human knows how to step up and embrace failure the way Jerry does.
Yep, that’s ME who has bungled this thing for this long….
It may have been a joke, but Jerry is right that drafting is not our problem. Our problem is that the GM believes that you can do that and achieve success while not making much use of a key component of roster building, free agency. From the article's author:
There’s not another GM on the planet who could get away with more than two decades of playoff futility. Jones, who employs himself, is the lone exception.
So maybe he should save his jokes like, “Drafting is not our problem, coaching is.”
She makes a solid summation. Even the Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals separates Mike Brown from Jones. Of course, Brown's Director of Player Personnel, Duke Tobin, does not share his DNA either.
AC I think the Jones boys make most of those decisions.I 100% agree with Jerry! I've been saying the same in recent years. Cowboys definitely have a coaching (all coaches, especially positional coaches) problem who have failed to either coach certain players up or make the wrong decisions as to who to start/who to sit/who to cut/who to keep. It has showed and cost the team in recent years.
exactly, and he is also saying the jones boys are smart and great at drafting, so the problem must be the coaching.Either way he is insulting himself. First of all he is admitting the lack of success. 2nd he blames the coach, even thought he is joking its low class. 3rd hes the one that hires the coaches.
Just another dumb Jerry quote.
Agreed, DD!AC I think the Jones boys make most of those decisions.
I can only blame the coaches for what they control, which is teaching players, getting them ready for a game, the playbook, play calling, and schemes.
JG was bad, but who hired him and kept him here for a decade ?? Same for marinelli.
Mike hired his DC who was worse than marinelli, the Jones boys finally made a good hire in Quinn and we can all see what a difference that made.
They hired mike, but wouldnt let him have his own OC or call plays until this coming season.
I dont think much of mike, but he has had one arm tied behind his back by the jones boys till now.
Will be better to evaluate mike this coming season.
And even as a joke a GM should never say this publicly about his current HC or the whole staff !
There is no plus side to that comment.
Yeah, that was pretty boss there. I think McCarthy got the message even though they pulled it off like it was a joke.
Jerry likes to tell funnies.
He just can't admit that he is the main source of the problem in Dallas. Still trying to prove that he knows a thing about football.I dont see it like that. Just another dumb, out of place joke from Jerry.
Its his dumb way of telling everyone that he is still the man in Dallas.
Money shot:
You do not fire a coach after back to back 12 win seasons, playoff appearances and the first road playoff win in 30 years.I originally had McCarthy lasting 3 to 5 games. I think now I have to adjust that to 2.
Jerry was obviously ready to fire him after the playoff game, and should have done it.
Instead he's waiting for a few losses so it seems fair .
