It's funny. Some people do not get my humor at first. They think I'm outright attacking them for no reason. I had a somewhat recent new CBZer message me and ask me why I was being so mean to them when they didn't even know who I was. (even though they were friends with people who definitely know me and how I am) Though that's because he was posting in Off-Topic zone when most new-comers of the past spent most time in the fan zone.

Go look for my recent work in the other zones. rofl. The fans that do not come to the off-topic zone, recoil when I post something in there.

I don't go there much because everyone must argue to the death that they are right about something. So, when I do go. It's mostly to troll, then watch everyone get all bent out of shape because of what I said haha.
I have noticed that there is that "stand and defend" mentality here more than on the old DC.com site except I heard it was that way in the News forum. Posters come with a negative and the attack starts without some thinking 'where is this poster coming from' or more importantly, 'how firmly planted are they where they are or are they looking to be persuaded to think a different way'? Instead of pointing out the positives to address the negative, some just wade in on the poster putting them in a "stand and defend" posture on something they might not be all in on.

On the old forum, I started threads that posters made strong enough cases that I began to rethink that. Sometimes, I'd admit I was wrong. I was married for 42 years and had a lot of practice admitting I was wrong.

But my pet peeve here is the same one I had at the old forum. Why in the hell do posters feel compelled to come into someone's thread and dump on them for starting it? "Oh great, another _________ thread". I've seen posters even apologizing in their first sentence. Is there a thread limit or a requirement that we must comment in every thread? Hell, just stay out of it if they don't like it. And stop acting as if there isn't another human being on the end of that post or thread. Not talking about having fun or goofin' on someone but there is nothing that will shut down open conversation and wide participation like some acting like they own the joint.

Yeah,I was getting that cold vibe too. It’s ok...I’m perfectly fine hanging in here. I know I’m the stuff people sweep quickly under the carpet when guests arrive. Loool
Nonsense, I point you out to the arriving guests and ask "feeling bad about yourself? Look at Chris here, he's surviving so be of good cheer".

I get those hurt PMs every time I post a version of "go away" in a welcome thread. I feel terrible about it for a few seconds, but then I remind myself that they really should just go away and everything would be fine and a perk myself back up.
Obvious sarcastic humor, and the obvious fill in your punch liner skills, has become a devalued and decommissioned part of the US Arts and Entertainment Cultural System. They just wouldn’t fund it anymore.... in lieu of critical arguing skills,or quite famously noted on by Dr.Shlitzki in “The Conscripts for Eliminating Human Reasoning Development for Humor, and it’s Necessities in a Post Modern Age.” Well he sumed it up perfect when he stated the position as........well I forget what he said, but the point still stands!

Yeeeeeees! Life is no fun without good humor. If I want to drink stoicism,I’ll go contact my ex. Yuck......rather barricade myself in a closet full of mirrors, and entertain myself...than live in a world like that. What’s really funny (and sad) is most people I used to know have become so flatlined, and the funny part is they’re always talking to me about how screwed up I am,while im happy, and they’re miserable. Looooooool.
I know that feeling. I don't stay in contact with a lot of the people I've know for a long time because I don't want to become them....old. I cannot stop aging but I can stop growing old. Kind of crazy that I retired to a retirement area as I feel I should be rolling their houses and trying to sneak their daughters out the bedroom window.

One of the toughest things to do is to give yourself permission to be you. What makes you happy? Do it as long as it doesn't infringe on others. And the happiest day of my life, as an individual, was when I stopped making comparisons of myself to others, measuring myself, and just accepted this is who I am and I can live with this me. And who are they that would criticize me? Envious of where I am mentally in the acceptance of me with all my warts?

I couldn't agree more with Dr. Shlitzki or you agreeing with his principles. And now, I have already forgotten that I agreed with you.

Like my Proctologist, Dr. Ivan A. Cave, told me "your cranial analism can be cured by removing your head from your butt but you might find that you were right all along".

Totally says it for me. That last paragraph,is when I started rocking on my own. Yeah, like who cares if I’m a hot mess on a sidewalk, they just think I should be miserable because of it. Well I’m NOT and irritates the hell out of them.It really does. Loooool

Being on a forum where everyone agrees is absolutely boring. You can only rave about the same things so many times before it just gets annoying in itself.

Discussion forums on the internet have shifted into a mob mentality that lives with the perception of the loudest voices win an argument. I share my opinions from time to time but I have no need or desire to convince anyone else of anything. I know that most people who argue quite often on forum sites are close-minded and would likely not change their mind even if the evidence against their argument was clear for everyone to see.

What I can tell you is that the frustration level with the Cowboys is finally starting to reach critical mass with fans. The optimism and "next year is the year" hope-filled story lines have been pushed every year for the last 10+ years. While I hate reading so much negativity and really wish CZ had a lot less of it than it does, it's hard to blame the fans, many of whom have spent years cheering on the team despite failed season after failed season, when they have finally reached a point where they want results, not hope and promises.

Fortunately though, there are enough fans on both sides of most arguments here that it is rare that a fan is alone in their thinking. That helps keep one side from shutting down the other side and also keeps discussions active especially during the slow off-season periods.

Yep, I have seen the ongoing "next yearitis" take it's toll with posters galvanizing themselves against disappointment with negativity or being accused of lowering their bar by some.

One of the hardest things for most of us long timers to accept is the fact that those Cowboys are not these Cowboys. We are like the Bears, Lions and Commanders and do not want to accept that so we invent where we should be according to our storied past. But, we are the Cowboys.

The one thing that I have found amusing and enlightening about both forums is that some of the posters that think they could run the organization better actually could. That's how sad this is because it doesn't have to be this way. And Booger's favorite response is "let them put 140M down and then they can run it".

If anyone gets bored here, they've been in one place too long. This Off-Topic Zone is about as varied as you could have. The only problem I have is how to jack it? My gosh, I am the Grand Poobah of the Post Jackers Guild and can't figure how to get Off-Topic off topic, very puzzling. The one thing I have noticed about this thread that is difference is the Off of Off-Topic may be about the posters more than the forum. Feeling right at home there.

We tried this on DC.com, G2 got Fireside Chat going, but we did not have the participation there like here, I would even forget it's there.

i have to say that this board has some of very humorous posters on it. Seriously, I don't know how many times I have read some of the posts on this forum and just literally laughed my *** off. Laughter really is the best medicine.
Anything to keep you entertained. For example, here's Idgit:

Don't think that way! I scrape that stuff off before I go in the house.
