The common sense of Jerry Jones that lead us to a decade of futility?

Parcells, Ireland, Gaine all gone.....

When it's Jones, Lacewell, and Phillips making draft decisions, it'll be obvious how bad of a shape we're in.

It was inevitable Jones would destroy the team after Parcells left, I just didn't expect him to let is slide so quickly.

Come back from the ledge, it will be ok. ;)

Also, what exactly was Jerry suppossed to do? Ireland wanted to leave, Sporano wants to leave, ect....Was he suppossed to tie them up and lock them in the basement?

As far as the team being destroyed and you didnt expect the slide to be so quick, last time I looked we are 13-3 and the #1 seed.

Stop acting so hysterical, are the ruffles on your panties rubbing you the wrong way.:p:

I'm not feeling too superior about a GM who has his hands on marketing, a new stadium, and everything else instead of football matters like every other GM/personnel man in this league.
Take a look at the Cowboys drafts from 1994-2002 when Jerry didn't have a strong football man next to him in the draft room, and tell me how he did.

take a look at owens. take a look at garrett.

you're being selective - and now getting just absurd.

there are 31 other teams. you either want to sit here and hate or you're a troll. with your name, i can guess where you're coming from.

done now. go be silly elsewhere.

what's funny is, until gaines left, he probably didn't even know the name.

now it's tragedy.

Because this team is back in the dumpster. We have a fake GM, many other teams have a good one.

Strike 2? :laugh2: As if it's a good thing that JJ thinks he doesn't need to replace the most talented person in the front office. The strike is on us fans who'll soon be suffering through the Dallas Cowboys of 6 years ago.

With Jerry Jones firmly in control and 2 of his top 3 personnel men gone, we're like the lobster - what game was that from? - that isn't dead, but it's in the tank at the restaurant.

The team is back in the dumpster, WOW.

What you need to do is grow a pair and calm the hell down dude. You do realize that we are one of the youngest teams in the NFL and we are one of the best teams in the NFL.

Even if what you say is true and we are screwed on draft day, we are still going to be one of the top teams for the next 3-5 years.

Worry in 5 years, not now, geez:bang2:

But Jerry built this team!!!111!!!

What's funny is he's only the GM because he gave himself that title. No other team in the league would've ever hired an oilman to be their GM.

And even with his 3 Super Bowls, no one would hire him as a GM because they all know he wasn't responsible for them.

Lets see, what has Jerry the GM done this year:

Hired Wade
Hired Garrett
Hired Stewart
Signed Leonard Davis
Signed Ken Hamlin
Paid TO his roster bonus
Aquired Clevland's 1st rounder
Traded with Philly to acquire Spencer
Gave Romo extension
Gave Crayton extension
Building billion dollar stadium

Yea, you are right that we need a real GM in here, any bum off the street could have done all of this. Your "Armageddon" routine is starting to get old.

i already tried to point out jones hired the very people they're so upset to lose - but it doesn't seem to matter.

hate runs deep in some.

No, but I am pretty certain stating that he was in charge and was not going to replace Ireland made Gaine feel like he had a lot of room to advance.

for the first part - is there anyone inside or outside the cowboys org who didn't know jones was in charge? you think parcells will share the love?

not a huge trait of his either.

again, more premature whining and kvetching.

It is the perfect foil to your excessive and unfounded optimism.

The kvetching is based off a substantial and documented series of events regarding the draft and personnel from 1994-2003. Jerry Jones' track record during that time period is undeniably dismal. One thing that he was missing was a conscious. Now, he is right back to that state.

Your viewpoint is based of a singular off-season, with people like Ireland and Gaine in place to assist, not to mention Bill Parcells around for several weeks to help transition into the draft and head coaching search.

I'd say you are the one who is a bit "premature".

They sure are jumping ship for Jones and going to go work for Bill Parcells fairly quickly, aren't they?

Is it some mind trick he is able to pull as per your "theory"?

Or could you be just, well, wrong?

Regardless, even if your theory is correct, it at least has a four year timetable. Eventually Bill Parcells will be gone and there will be advancement possibilities.

That will never exist in Dallas.

sure i could be.

i'm sure parcells has his fans. you don't get to his point in life and not have 'em. you don't get to his point and have people who don't hate you either. both side exist to that coin so shining 1 side is a waste of time.

so it's GM or nothing here in dallas? garrett didn't advance? sprano isn't advancing his career by showing what he can do in dallas? gaine has GM aspirations that will be seen in miami? or is that sprano? or is that...um...ireland?

just who will be the ONE GM in miami so many are now vying for?

glad to see the tunnel vision be all you see.

you make no sense. this "fake" GM got the people together you're so hellbent to now keep.

Yes, Jerry got these guys together and assembled and promoted a quality personnel staff. I really liked Ireland because he came from within our ranks and was a diamond in the rough. But what does that say when these departures are becoming more common? Jerry should have seen some of this coming and I don't know why Gaine's departure is suprising because he's a Parcell's guy unless Gaine told him he would be staying and then changed his mind.

When your front office talent starts to depart, you promote other quality people from within to fill those jobs, whether it be Tom C or Gaine, as it sends a positive message. By Jerry minimizing Ireland's (former) position/title and not filling it because "we've never had it before" (or something to that effect), it sends the wrong message that guys like Gaine and Tom C have gone about as far, proffessionally, as their going to go within the organization.

Either way, Jerry signed their paychecks and has to feel a bit slighted. I know I would.

i think we read more into this than the coaches/scouts do.

we allow for business decisions where we work but jones can't make 'em or he's a bad guy. or he was already a bad guy to some and here's another bullet.

just gets old, the crying about something you can't change.
