So far it sounds like C-Mike is going to be the Escobar of running backs, with all sightings dutifully reported in the game thread. Kind of like when someone in your family sees a squirrel. "Look, a squirrel!"

Yep. And apparently you missed my point. There was a video post before mine showing Christine Michaels.. My point (and yours) is that it doesn't matter how good they look in college. Thank you for restating my point:)

You responded about Randles college highlights looking good. My point was to show that just because ANYONE'S highlights look good in college doesn't necessarily mean that it transfers to the NFL. My point is that what matters is what you show on the field during NFL game time. I doubt either Michaels nor Randle would start for any other team out there but I am all for giving Michaels a shot because we are already loosing so it's not like we can do worse. That's my point. Next time, I'll bring crayons...

If I had to guess, I would say the coaching staff sees something in C-Mike they need to correct or are hoping will just go away. Whatever it is, it seems to only take one carry for them to see it is still there. The whole thing is pretty baffling, actually.

Sadly, you may not be too far off base... A travesty. Why pick the guy up if you aren't going to truly evaluate fit?

Point taken.. And I figured, like everything in life, someone would point out the exceptions of the rule as if Michaels is already one of them. But let's not forget the overwhelming majority that are kicked to the curb that never amount to anything. Don't get me wrong, I will gladly change my tune is Michaels turns into a Probowl player.. But until he proves something that he hasn't been able to do for two teams now.. I'll temper my excitement. Right now he's in the same boat as Randle, but he brings a different skill set that may be more the Cowboys style. So we'll see, but I do wonder why even after a bye week..He still hasn't beat out Randle?. I did mention tho, all the RBs will have a better chance this week with the LG & Qb switch and improved defense giving the offense more opportunities... So let the best RB win! I really don't care who it is as long as thier effective and we Win. Bc when Romo and Dez are back.. The running game will miraculously come alive again.

He hasn't beat out Randle because Randle represents the poster child for assuming the front office was right in giving Demarco the cold shoulder. Randle will be given every opportunity (& then some) to clean that meaty bone. But we won't go there.

I really don't understand this statement at all. Exactly what were you expecting behind a underperforming Leary and Free, Romo out and Dez out, and horrible play calling. The fact he is at 3.9 is actually pretty amazing given what he has to work with.

Perhaps someone (anyone?) Can explain why Randle has appeared in 1st halves but completely disappeared in 2nd halves.

I got to see practice today and Randle got all the 1st team reps, followed by Dmac (looked like they were practicing 2 minute, hurry up/ field goal stuff). I don't recall CMike seeing the field at all. I realize that it was just a walk through, but it was disappointing not seeing CMike in any packages. Question I have is how much should we read into who is and isn't on the field during the walk through that was open to the public? If today's practice is any indication, I'd be surprised if CMike gets more than 5 carries.

I'm thinking all the talk was to motivate that other back on the roster... Of course they won't give him more carries that would mean they'd have to admit they were wrong about that other back... That'll never happen...

Seriously? I see that kind of thing happening in high school, but not the NFL. All the coaching staff has said is that CM will "get more carries" and "be more involved". Since that was said, I've seen dozens of people interpret that to mean "he's gonna get 15-20 carries" or "CM us going to start". The truth is that they're out just pulling those things out of their butts. Maybe he gets 15-20 carries...maybe he just gets 5. Either way, he still gets more involved in the offense than he has been. And if he produces, he'll get even more.

It's asinine to think the coaching staff has an aversion to admitting they were wrong. If that were the case, he wouldn't even be active.

Also Fish and BB did kind hint around to him maybe starting. So the fans weren't pulling it out of anywhere. Problem is they still need 3 backs active so it would make no sense to not have him active. But I find the whole timeline kinda interesting especially with JR coming out saying he won't complain about his carries etc... Almost sounded like the staff put him on notice

I didn't say "fans"... I said people, Fish and all included. The point remains that nobody made any statements about CM starting. They could activate Rod Smith and still have 3 backs active, so my point remains. It's silly to think the staff doesn't want to admit being wrong, as a motivation for withholding carries from CM.

I wlll chuckle softly to myself if all of this energy devoted to Michael ends up with Garrett giving him five carries.

Anyone pick him up for their fantasy league?

I've actually held on to him since before the season a day before we traded for him. Here's to hoping there's a pay off!
