GAC: Garrett in for second Interview

BTW - My guess is that Jerry might be slightly interested in Garrett as HC, but I think they probably *had* to tell the Dolphins that's what they were doing to even interview him.

And the Fins asked Jerry to make some kind of decision by Thursday, which of course is tomorrow. But if they wanted to interview him for the HC job, they could talk to him whenever they wanted. So maybe Jerry is just getting all his talking about the OC done now.

What about Mike Quinn for our assitant head coach/offensive coordinator?

He went 1 for 1 for 10 yards as our 3rd string backup QB in 1998.

Nah ... overqualified. Nevermind.
Garrett has a mind for the game and played on three Super Bowl teams unlike Quinn.

If he's being hired on as the OC, we're doomed. You let the HC pick that. If he's coming in as the HC, I don't know what to say.. He was a solid back up QB for us, that's all I know.

but no mention that it is imminent that he is going to be named head coach or even a mention of a 2nd interview

I hope it is not true.

If anything, I would at least like to see some other guys like Reeves, Phillips, Rivera etc etc get an opportunity to at least appear before Jerry Jones and offer their proposals.

If this happen, it would reek of knee jerking and acting too hastily.

First thing he'd do is annoint himself the starting QB since he never got that opportunity in the past.

Reeves and Phillips? I thought the majority here wanted a young coach with new ideas?

For all we know, Rivera could be the guy and Jones has already gotten his ok to have Garrett as OC.

Let's not get ridiculous. I only suggested Mike Quinn for Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator, not Head Coach. I agree, Garrett is much more qualified to be a head coach. He was a third stringer for the Cowboys much, much longer.

Why would that be? Because I'm not all that crazy about where Jones is going to take us? I'm a realist, thats all.

I'd rather have a Young Garrett with new ideas over some retred coach like Reaves or Phillips

people questioned the Saints hiring Sean P and look what happened. Young ideas is the way of the league

I was wondering the same thing...I just cant believe Jerry would hire JC as the HC right now...maybe 2-3 yrs from now or something...but this seems early

he cant interview Rivera, but he could easily call him on his cell and "hey Ron, lets talk when the Super Bowl is done, in the mean time lets throw some names around of people you might like"...one of them could be Garrett...he could get a concensus approval on Garrett, hire him...then move forward with HC later

A second stringer for two years as well, a winning record as a starter, played on four super bowl teams in his career, coaching experience, dynasty experience, princeton academic background.

I don't doubt he can do it even if he isn't my first choice.

Garrett is an old fart.

What about that kid who won the kick and throw competition? He looked fiery !!!

:laugh1: I have heard that Bellichick's kids are tired of standing on the sidelines with him during games. :laugh1:

I thought he could talk to Rivera now? I thought they made a rule allowing it.
