Galloway gets it.

Not sure why he is viewed as untradeable now after the contract. Romo is praised like Staubach on here 24/7 and his contract is lauded as "fair market" "not a burden", etc...yet now no one will take him? Ha! Romo stans can't have it both ways. Take the dead money and lets move on from these dark years under Romo. Let's bring some life back to this franchise.

Because of the enormous salary cap acceleration that would take place with a trade. But keep up the name calling and labeling people as "stans" when they are the ones who actually understand how NFL salary caps work.

The number one pick for a 34 year old QB with a huge contract coming off major back surgery.....and this guy gets paid for this crap?

But in all seriousness...
We just got out of "cap hell" and there's no reason to set us back by eating his guaranteed portion on the contract for another team to get his last couple good years.

the trouble is, sir, his recent "good years" have not been good. And I doubt his remaining "good years" will be any better. For us, not his individual stats.

Romo's recent "good" years have been excellent if you consider the circumstances around him. Romo has been the only reason this team has been relevant the last couple years. How many QB's are going to carry a team with a defense that gives up 6,645 yards? Didn't Drew Brees go 7-9 in 2012 when the Saints supported his efforts with the worst defense in football? Did New Orleans fans want to trade him?

Sorrry, but one of these days, the Romo bashers will get their wish, and he'll be gone forever. And when we're stuck in a 4-12 dumpster for a few years, it's possible some just might realize, hey, that guy WAS kind of good, wasn't he?

An 8-8 dumpster is better? At least 4-12 offers good draft picks

No, 8-8 isn't better. This is exactly what so many people miss. Romo's not the reason for the 8-8. Surround him with a team like Seattle has, and you would see a difference. Take Romo away from the flawed roster you have now, and you get the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Remember, interception kings Eli Manning and Joe Flacco have won titles. And neither of them, in my opinion, is better than Romo. Watch Eli and Flacco highlights from last year for details.

Well, there is that little detail of a $41 million dead money hit we'd take against the cap.

Then we suck so bad this year to get next years 1st overall too and whatever draft picks for trading the other aging players who's contracts we'd eat in the same year? 30 of the 53 man game day roster on a 1 year contract at $500,00 each?

Would you do it?

Great idea! I would give anything to go back to those glorious years before Romo ruined it all.

Can you not read? I specifically said to eat the cap hit and start over. I'm wondering why all of a sudden he is untradeable from the perspective of the other team. I mean he IS the greatest qb in franchise history right? Shouldn't the league be breaking down the door to trade for him?

Of course, b/c Chad Hutchinson and Tony Banks are the only alternative to Romo, right? Thank God the Seahawks weren't paralyzed from fear of the unknown after Hassleback.

Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys are married to each other for the next 3 years.

Its that simple.

You can discuss this until this thread is 100 pages deep.

But it will not change the fact that Romo will be the QB for this team for the next 3 years. Barring injury.

Your right. I'm tired of all the Romo lovers blaming losses on our 32nd ranked defense. This defense won't hold Johnny football back.

Any team needing a QB would. The problem is the Cowboys couldn't afford to trade that contract. They would be the ones to eat the bonus money already paid. The new team would only have to pay the per year salary.

No team in the NFL is going to trade for Romo..

Why would any team want to replace future improvement with having to retro-fit Romo to a new offense as opposed to just drafting a QB and starting from scratch?

Would completely make no sense.

This is not Hershel Walker Part Deux.
