Be sure to let us know when Henson's birthday comes up again. What's he doing now? Selling used cars?

Hehe, you have sure tried to live off that forever. I'm sure your 100% in your player assessments, especially when you are evaluating players, who to that point, had barely been on the field.

I'll say it again, I hope you are right in your views of Romo, that will be good for all Cowboys fans. To compare him with Aikman right now is just plain silly.

It's still not the same as starting games. You're just setting up the argument to fit your needs. I think it's clear that most people compare their respective careers as starters as that's the only logical way to compare them. If Romo wasn't accumulating stats, wins, etc., for a certain period of time, then how can you logically compare that with a QB who was.

So, if you want to compare total years in their careers without regarding to time as a starter, then that's your business. Just know that most people aren't having that debate, and I think it's clear that was the case here.

clearly

Agreed. I came away from the game thinking these are both still top teams. That was really good football.

Serious question here. Maybe I am too invested in wanting to see the Steelers lose.

You are correct they both have excellent defenses, but is it my imagination or the continual rushing three or four people by Tenn to end the game insane? Or is it just me?

I'm not setting up anything. Romo is 29 years old, in his 7th season as an NFL QB, who has been a starter for 3 years. Period. That is REALITY. You can't say, ok, he's only started 3 years, so he is actually a 25 year old guy who has only been in the league 3 years. That isn't REALITY.

When Aikman was 25 years old, he had only been in the league for 3 years, and yes he had started all 3. As a 25 year old guy with only 3 years experience he made the Pro-Bowl. He had already won 3 Super Bowls before he turned 30. That is reality.

I understand your point, but you can't just ignore the number of years a guy has been in the league.

Oh he did? Aikman won those Superbowls all on his own huh? I guess the other 44 guys on the roster just sat on the sidelines and watched in amazement while Aikman single handidly became the first player in the history of the NFL to win a single superbowl, much less multiple ones, all on his own.

Again comparing them is useless cause it can't accurately be done because of all the differences I mentioned before. But people who throw out the Superbowl thing, and I know this cause I'm guilty of doing it myself when there is really nothing else to point to, as the reason a QB is or isn't better is just as pointless. Superbowls are won by teams not individuals.

Otherwise your point is that guys like Dan Marino and Jim Kelly were not as good a QB as guys like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Doug Williams.

ok well, how would you assess Aikman and Romos first 3 seasons as an NFL starting QB....?

This isn't about who started more games or who had a longer career. This is about who, at their best, is a better QB. And it's hands down Romo.

Of course, Romo could likely end up with more career yards and TDs than Troy, despite having a much shorter starting career, so even your argument there works against you.

Absolutely. And like the Boys last December, Tennessee knows what it feels like to sell out for 60+ minutes in Heinz Field and come away heartbroken.

Of course its a team game. The hall of fame is an individual selection. He was a first ballot hall of famer. Is that what Romo is this moment? No. If his career ended right now would he be? No. The comparison is silly for that reason.

Oh, I certainly get calls wrong on players. It's impossible not to because there are too many variables at play.

But when I'm wrong I admit it. Like in this thread about Chris Johnson. I was wrong about the guy.

You admitted being horribly wrong about Romo. But you still spend every chance you can slamming the guy. It's obvious that it just ANNOYS the piss out of you that Romo is as good as he is. It hurts your ego that he's our QB and is really good QB.

And that is really amazing (and sorta fun to poke fun at).

There is no way to settle this between the two of us. I wish we had access to poll NFL people as to who they would take, this moment, in their prime. I'm afraid you would be very disappointed.

I wouldn't be disappointed. I would predict most people would pick Aikman.

:), all you continue to prove, though you can't see it, is you don't know me or understand me at all. But why waste my breath (or fingers :)). I admitted I was wrong about Romo, but I'm not wrong on this point. You can't compare the two QB's in their prime. And as I said, if we could poll NFL people right now, I think I would be proven to be in the majority.

You're right. I don't know you. I just know what you post on the board. And it's pretty funny stuff.

How many sales do you think Henson pulled in during cash for clunkers? I bet he got salesman of the month.

Henson > the other car salesman with a mullett
