"Took what NYG gave them."

Folks, this sums up our boy wonder head coach pretty accurately.

Don't bother scheming to get the ball in the hands of your best player.

So they take away your outside wrs and give you the tight ends and slot wrs you're just going to allow that to happen? I bet the Steelers, nyg, Bengals are glad that Garrett isn't their coach.

Dak had 45 pass attempts and 26 of those throws were targeted between just two players....Jason Witten and Cole Beasley.

Unfortunately, most of our brainiac fanbase can't make out what was happening in terms of the Giants not wanting to be beaten by the WRs on the outside (Dez and T-Will combined for just 9 total targets) which resulted in Witten and Beasley seeing a ton of clean looks on underneath routes which is what Dak, a rookie QB, chose to attack. Whether folks like it or not, that's exactly what Garrett was talking about "taking what they gave us."

Instead, immediately post-game on the board we get all the usual ignorant posters spouting off about Dez being a bum, stealing money from the Cowboys, not being an elite WR anymore... One of the worst overreactions and mindless blathering I've ever witnessed.

The fact that Garrett walked off the field with a huge smile after losing a game to a divisional rival, something that could have playoff implications, tells you all you need to know. This isn't a culture of winning. This is a culture of put forth a decent effort, and if you win, nice, but if you lose, don't worry because we'll fight another day. This is a .500 mentality and that's what our record reflects WITH a HOF Qb (Romo), HOF Tight-end (Witten), and one of the best O lines in the game. Coaches should scheme for ways to get their playmakers the ball, not let the opposing defense dictate to you what should be done.

Honestly, if we have a bad record this year, I wouldn't be too sad because maybe it will force Jerry to get Garrett off the field and into the Front Office, where he'd be much better suited. The drafts have been much better as of late during the Garrett years, but the on the field product is quite unimpressive.

That's a myth.

TO ran his share of slants here, too. And he was very effective in Dallas. Where does this stuff come from?

TO's problem was that he'd freelance and leave his QBs out to dry too often. But he offset that with huge plays because he was a phenom once you got him the ball.

A slant and a drag are two completely different routes. I don't disagree on his freelancing. This stuff comes from watching the games. I'm not trying to bash you but from what I can tell me you think garret is a great coach and offensive mind. I happen to strongly disagree and have felt that way going back to after Spirano left. I've always felt romo made this offense go, but it's even more glaring the past few years.

Being a long time backup qb to qb coach that never developed a qb then got jobs because of in-effect nepotism shouldn't make you Teflon. (and I do recognize Atlanta and Baltimore but also recognize they are not regretting what happened)

That smile did get on my nerves, meanwhile macadoo looked pissed.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...b-dak-prescott-exemplifies-poise-in-nfl-debut

"Prescott deserves even more credit for his poise because he also didn't have the running game theCowboys were expected to provide. The Giants successfully contained rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott (who gained 51 yards on 20 carries), largely because they had an effective strategy that allowed them to crowd the line of scrimmage and provide deep help to control Bryant. Garrett said New York accomplished this by playing a lot of two-deep coverage and then blitzing safeties to disrupt the run game. It's the kind of tactic teams can use when facing a first-time starter."

Don't tell that to the brainiacs on this board. Dez simply isn't an elite receiver....so they say.

Why would they scheme to get the ball in the hands of Dan Bailey?

So why don't you roll your quarterback out and all the sudden you're outside receivers are back in the game again

Put your two speed guys outside and move Dez into the slot, then you got your outside guys way down the field Dez and Witten will be there in the15 to 20 yard range. And then for the fun of it you can just take off and run

It's called demoralizing a defense, once you do that you can have your way with them

When push came to shove and they counted on Dez to do his job and catch the ball, he dropped it. He's paid MILLIONS and he can't come up with a crucial catch. That's why a lot of people are pissed about him.

He's very talented with a natural athletic gift. He's not too bright, however. It took him longer than normal to learn his routes (and there aren't many.) So people suggesting that they move Dez around aren't being too realistic since he'd not run those routes well for a LONG time. Add in that teams are going to shut him down with double and triple coverage because he is such a threat when he does get the ball. So just planning to feed him the ball all day is not only ridiculous, it suggests that other teams are incapable of any coverage, which is stupid. The more people they put on him, the more open other people are. So if a team covers the wideouts exclusively with double coverage, that opens up the inside big-time, which is taking what you are given. That's not always a bad thing. Had either Beasley or Dez made those end-zone catches, this was a game plan that would have won, plain and simple. Had Williams not displayed epic stupidity and actually went to the sideline, they would have at least had a shot to win.

Imposing your will is wonderful, but few teams are actually able to do it. You need players who step up to make those plays. Our players don't do that. They find ways to screw up. The best game plan in the world will not survive dumb players.

I agree. The Cowboys never should have sunk that much money into one player who is clearly mentally challenged. And can only be used in certain ways because of it. No matter how talented.

But, he sells a ton of jerseys.

So..........just is what it is.

dude that's an easy one. Simply because a screen pass to Dez, Elliot, Lucky or Dunbar has a chance of working. It's the same "process" of "coaching" that got Morris pulled from the game. Morris was averaging 5 ypc and hammering the defense. We were getting the momentum and then Boom, Little Jerry remembers that the gameplan was for EE to get the carries so he pulled Morris for EE because nothing is going to cause Little Jerry to stray away from his gameplan. Success of Failure is secondary to having a gameplan and sticking to it. That's the Jerry Jones model, that's Little Jerry's model and that's why were going to be exactly .500 since 1997 after next week's loss.

I swear we coached that game to lose yesterday. We forced what didn't work and went away from what did work. Simply horrible, terrible coaching.

Jason, YOU should try doing the dictating on offense. You have been given the tools. ADJUST for once, just ONCE.
He is doing all he knows how to do. Fact is, he just isn't a good coach. He is a fantstic yes man though and that is what Jerry's ego needs.

I live in the Beaumont area and listen to KTRH 740 AM radio out of Houston all the time so I hear all the Texans updates. I have heard O'Brien take blame when he screws up several times. I have never once heard Garrett take any blame. Of course O'Brien was able to coach Weeden to victories last year. Garrett not so much.

Houston always found ways to get andre Johnson and Hopkins involved in their offenses with hot messes at QB too. always made me jealous.

Redball shoulda been flushed outta here with wade. hell, before wade. sadly, he seems very engrained with the joneses... like their own Jeff fisher.

That smile on red's soulless face after a loss on the field; those relaxed shoulders at the day after presser... all a result of the get out of jail free card he gets with every romo fracture.

He did incriminate himself.

Telling the world that you couldn't get the ball in the hands of your superstar receiver because you only would take what the defense gave you says it all.

That stupid statement is the idiot equivalent of saying "they wouldnt let us"

The part about Dez being overrated is pretty lame from some fans.

The part about Garrett and the offensive coaches being schmucks and not trying to figure out ways to use his best WR other than on the outside is perfectly legitimate IMO.
