Maybe learn to manage the clock better so you don't give a QB like AR time to go down the field and score on our pitiful defense. And if we are 1st and goal that you at least give your star RB a chance to run the ball in. That would be a start. And of course get us to an NFC Championship game. If he does that this year I'll lay off of him some.
Yeah I will add. Quit allowing Scott to call shotgun, empty backfield plays and 3rd/4th and short.

Here is what he needs to change:

Knock off the insane clapping. If a player makes a great play, yell congrats. Give a thumbs up. If a player screws up, for God's sake do not clap! Why would you clap?

When a player is suspending for drugs, vehicular manslaughter, DV, etc. or is late to practice or camp, DO NOT say "he's a player, we believe in him. His work ethic and love of his teammates is a testament to his character." Think it over. Follow Jimmy's way: "I will tell you something, he's got until tomorrow to explain his butt. Things happen. Stupidity happens. If he does not want to get with the system or work hard, there are a hundred otywers who want his job. I am through talking about idiots who do not, through his actions, want to be here."

Stop grinning at everything. Not everything is pretty or good.
Did jimmy and old man Landry grin on the sidelines? No, they were focused.

At pressers, tell it like it is: "Our pass rushing sucks. Our secondary is struggling. I will have the Allen HS secondary here tomorrow to show them how it is done."

When you lose, show anger: "We are going to switch some first-teamers to second. This loss is unacceptable. If you can't play for an hour, you need to be in better condition. If you can't hang with the opponent, turn in your equipment and give a younger, more talented player a chance to play."

Garrett has the smarts and skills. Talking and acting like a Pollyanna is not the way to conduct himself. IT'S THE NFL, NOT POP WARNER!!!!!
..he got 9 yrs to prove it. The stars are not aligned for him. :omg:

He's not even a good coach waiting to happen. He's at the bottom of NFL coaches in terms of talent and ability. If he was even a good coach, we would have been to the NFC championship game in both 2014 and 2016.
I agree and will add that if he was a good coach we would have made the playoffs in his first three years instead of making stupid game / clock management decisions costing us at least two games per season and losing win or go home games to end each season against division rivals.

You do realize a lot of great coaches didnt become great with the first head coaching hire! Garrett in my opinion has a big problem because he is too much of a perfectionist and out thinks what he is doing. Sometimes changing up things in the middle of a game is OK!

Landry took over an expansion team.

He sure did and Garrett tool over a very old 1-7 team mid season...whats your point? Both had to do a complete build of the team's they had...garrett is now going into his 8th full season and has built a great team by drafting very well...

Both Garrett and Landry won COTY honors after their 6th season...lets see if Garrett can get us to the big game in the next few

stupidest crap ever to compare Garrett to Landry....

It's actually not comparing Jason Garrett to Landry in the mid 70s and 80s it's comparing him to Landry in the 60s which was the early part of his career...very fair to compare those two points

Jimmy was a great coach

I would agree, but he got an immediate influx of talent and extra draft choices with the Walker trade, that was a big help. Obviously he had to select good players with the draft picks and do the actual coaching, but I doubt he'd have done as well so fast without the Walker trade, which of course Garrett hasn't had (though the extra years he's been the coach offsets that somewhat).

And Jimmy ran the team, Jerry was getting back into football after 25 years in the oil business, Jimmy was able to make far more decisions than Garrett can...

Garrett had a franchise QB and the team made the playoffs the year before.

We are in year 9 and it's still a YO YO franchise.

Look how Landry did in 6 years after starting from scratch.

We're comparing a guy that started from the lowest end of the spectrum vs a guy with a franchise QB in a league where you can go from one of the worst to first in a season.

Defending Garrett is a joke at this point. He's had almost a decade.

Trying to reason with some folks is a joke at this point.

Because you're reasoning makes no sense.

The light bulb will magically come on for Garrett and he's going to make this franchise consistent?

He can't even overcome 1 hole in the boat 90% of the time.

Outside of 2016 it seems like 1 injury at a key position and the ship sinks.

Sean Lee out? There goes the defense.

Tyron Smith out? There goes the blocking.

Murray / Zeke out? There goes the run game (in a league where almost anyone can produce from that position)

The only thing that has saved him is that he built an OLine that can impose their will and take the game out of his hands,

We're just a try hard team that relies on fundamentals and in a league where everyones rosters are similar Jason Garretts philosophies are not good enough.
