His COY is by association.

About like Barry Switzer and his Superbowl.

He's had enough talent before. He'll never have a perfect team but he'll continue to coach like he has one.

That's pretty unfair to say he was simply gifted the COTY award bc of the association. You do realize they have to vote on these things and aren't simply given out bc of association with a team doing well.

Criticize him all you want but fact is he earned that award

I find it hilarious that Jimmy is known as some tough as nails bad *** with all the stuff players were into on his watch ........... all because he fired a backup player he did not like anyway.

I refuse to believe the Scarlet Clapper would lay down his Super Powers to become a better coach.

Fair enough.. I would argue we imposed our will on the ground and minimized the need for good coaching.

Whatever though.. That year is clearly an outlier. I believe it was Jack Del Rio who was also in consideration for COY? The Raiders decided they had seen enough after this past year.

For all his great "coaching" he did that year we have nothing to show for it.

8 years he's been the head guy and he's brought us nothing but a memorable season here or there.

Garrett has been treated like he's achieved something in this league. Like he's Parcells or something.

His players are starting to question him as well publicly and Romo on the sly takes digs at him without just coming out and saying the guy is terrible.

He's had all the time in the world. He's done nothing. Now we sit through another year and at the end we'll sit back and make the excuse that he didn't have good WR's or someone got hurt or something.

Switzer didn’t win COY.

Your basing your opinion on the speculation we’ve had enough talent. What if your wrong?

Yep.. Just like the Eagles..

Time has exposed Garrett. Why defend him at this point? He's done nothing. Why even debate it. He's had a lifetime in NFL coaching years to do something.

How does he make us better on Sunday's?

He's too talent dependent.

Believe it or not there are coaches who don't watch their teams fall apart with an injury here or there.
Garrett didn’t have a Top 5 defense and MVP QB.

What makes you think Jerry would attract a coach like that?

I don't know where you are getting the "players are starting to question him" piece, i have not seen anything even close to that. Also, for the all the time in the world and done nothing, like i said in the previous post he has built this team to where it is now and it is really 100% his team now. This is the year he either gets it done and shows progress, or doesn't and we move on.

I understand the frustration, i see it in many posters just like you...I share frustration but i think the blame for the frustration is not solely on garrett and can be spread around a good chunk. Regardless, this needs to be the year or a change is mandated....i just dont have the same level of distaste for him as some do.

here's hoping that we have a great season, Garrett shows he has turned the corner, and the team he has built comes to life as a power for years to come....even someone who dislikes garrett can't hope against that!

I'm not.

It's salary cap football.

Coaching and QB play matter more then your overall talent.

Give Bill Belichick Tom Brady and he can get to a Superbowl with a bit of smoke, mirrors, and duct tape.

Doug Pederson doesn't even need that.

We will never have a perfect team and right now will be known as the time we should have capitalized once Dak gets paid.

Bilichick has never made it to a Super Bowl without Brady.

Pedersen needed a top 5 defense and MVP at QB.

Dak doesn’t look to be enough either.

That’s why I thought during the amazon special that JG looked fake. Dropping all the F bombs and acting tough and angry sometimes. Then watch him during games and it’s all smiles and clapping.
Wow, just wow. Always something new. @glimmerman It’s called Leadership.

What course?

This is something we should be saying a few years in..

We've almost reached a decade with Jason Garrett.

This false hope narrative with him is just people kidding themselves.

He's had a lifetime as far as it goes for a NFL coach. Give me change.

If change is horrible then change it again. Changing in the NFL works. Staying with coaches like him that have had that long doesn't. I don't even know if there is an example.
Tom Landry maybe?

Yes, let's hope we have a great season and Garrett turns the corner. Just out of curiosity, what specific things do you want to see from Garrett that will show you he has turned the corner that you're hoping for?

For one I want to see consistency in game management. I don't think he has made a ton of mistakes but when he has made them they have been very visible...ie icing the kicker

Second, I want to see him delegate to his assistant coaches but still own the overall game plan...id like to see him get on them when they aren't executing..

Finally I want to see him help this team find a way to win despite adversity. One mark of a great coach and leader is to be able to help the team through tough times and get ws

I am on the Garrett train...i hope we see consistency this year

Maybe learn to manage the clock better so you don't give a QB like AR time to go down the field and score on our pitiful defense. And if we are 1st and goal that you at least give your star RB a chance to run the ball in. That would be a start. And of course get us to an NFC Championship game. If he does that this year I'll lay off of him some.
