Garrett outcoached boy genius

I’d argue he hovers around average to below or slightly above average from year to year. “ crappy “ is a very subjective description. It might have definitive meaning to you .

When you consider Jerry’s not interested in a great HC it limits our prospects. We have done worse.

What he exceeds in is helping influence Jerry’s idiocy and ability to coexist in dysfunctional organization.
He sucks, is that better than "Crappy?" Incessant game mismanagment, lack of game planning that takes advantage of opponents' weaknesses, poor attention to detail, inconsisten effort, etc. etc. There's not one thing he does well. Imagine what his record would be with the Steelers' roster right now.

The idea that the organization is dysfunctional is myth, especially relative to the rest of the league. It looks like that because the head coach is bad. The most dysfunctional thing Jerry has done over the last 10 years is hold onto the coach.

- Cowboys were more prepared than Rams coaches (how often we get to say that) - more inspired and maintained more discipline (aside from Michael Bennett and his persistent bone headed
off sides every freaking game) on that includes BOTH sides of the ball. the DL anchored very well and were not knocked off the ball or fooled/mis-influenced out of their gap lanes. Once Gurley was stopped cold early, Boy Wonder panicked and constantly had Goff in a pass heavy frenzy all game long.

- for all their pre-snap motion, misdirection plays, jet sweeps and reverses, bootlegs, with Goff running the ball ? (Yikes !!).. the Rams offense becomes so predictable and methodical
and much easier to defend, ...and that's exactly what happened, only down note is how we still are vulnerable on quick screens - whether WR, or TE,
Otherwise Rams had issues getting run game going, receiving not getting separation, and Goff just woefully inaccurate and off as a passer.

- Special teams remain a work in progress - as a failure to prepare and defend punter throwing for a first down (rams clearly were fronting that all game long)
Austin is still worthless on punt returns and always trying to bounce east-west than north-south...., and we had not one ..but two kickoffs out of bounds in one game.
but credit new kicker with coming up with three FG kicks including a 50 yrd.

- Offensively - Kellen Moore outcoached Wade Phillips

- Defensively Richard and Marinelli outcoached Boy Wonder McVey.

- HC Garrett's team was more prepared to play than HC McVey's team

- Special teams remains a work in progress.

Yea but the second half of that statement was that every staff thinks the Cowboys are very talented. I'll pose this question again, which 5 teams in the NFL have more talent?

Also, we can pick on the defense, but this is the third game against a good team where they've played really, really well. NO, NE, and now LA have all been held to 1 touchdown - outside of the two garbage-time TDs late.
no question we have talent. no question we have lost games this year we should have won. no question that situational coaching and play calling has hurt this team in close games. no question that execution has been bad in some games. we tend to make small little mistakes that cost us games as opposed to make plays that help us win close games. not sure why. like the fumbles against NO, like the blocked punt...I mean blocked punt against NE, like the missed tackles against Minny and the bad play calls at the end of the game, the bad passes against GB leaving points off the board. like the botched pass defense against Jets......and given how we are and not make enough plays, those little mistakes tend to cost us a lot.

teams that I think has better talent and I am sure there will be arguments, debates, given that a lot of teams are stronger in some areas, weaker in others, same with us and its a matter of preference and how much better one is than the other....
San Francisco, Ravens, New orleans, Minnesotta, Seattle, Rams, new England defense and QB, KC, arguments can be made about some of the rest.

Ok. I'll take a shot at your question. Remember this is only my opinion.

5. Texans
4. Vikings
3. Ravens
2. Chiefs
1. Browns. A cautionary tale in which uber talent means nothing if there is no team concept. And no direction, all me me me, no real coaching, no discipline, no accountability, and no cohesion.

Funny how the tables turned with Jason basically knocking the Rams out of the playoffs a week after the Rams looked they were back with an impressive win against Seattle.

The boy genius everyone was heralding last year as the new model for coaching in the NFL as he took it to Garrett in the playoffs going to Super Bowl has suddenly turned sour.

How could a spiraling down HC like Garrett blow out a genius in almost every facet of the game but the coin flip? :)
easy. Kellen moore outcoached wade and Kris Richard outcoached mcvay. garrett, as usual, was on the outside looking in.

Alright...now apply the same standards that are often given to the Cowboys.

The OL ranks 2nd in run blocking and 3rd in pass blocking but we hear complaints about how it is a weakness all the time. That's half the offense, and they're better than 30 other teams in the league lol.

Execution by the players won the Game. Adherence to fundamentals goes a long way
so let me get tis straight , when we lose its bad coaching even though the penalty's, turnovers, and poor execution were evident, but when we win its the players executed..LMAO Hypocrisy brah..pure hypocritical narraitves..

you win and lose as team.. the team includes coaching and they are all to blame and to give props too..TEAM its big all phases are accountable and the 2 -3 game losing streaks plenty of blame to all...

Um, no it didn't.

Zeke had a touch on 4/15 first-and-10 plays. The number over the previous 3 weeks was over 50%. This was a Kellen Moore game.

That part is true. But we didn't pass on all of those either. Pollard had atleast 1 1st down run and so did austin. keep in mind that garrett only helps with the planning he doesn't call the game which both of those areas seemed much better yesterday. The overall design to focus on the run game is a garrett thing, going back to using 2 tight ends to help block is a garrett staple.

Goff's thumb changed the game. Not coaching.
So where was the excuse for Dak during last week's loss at the Bears when Dak onviously fractured his finger on his throwing hand early in the game?

Pretty sad and hypocritical when Cowboys fans properly excuse another team's QB's performance but not ours...due to injury to their throwing hand.

Using 2 TEs is stupid when you have the most efficient offense in the league with 11 personnel.

Never said all that. Merely said the players executed and that fundamentals go a long way. Never mentioned coaching at all. YOU mentioned coaching

Pretty simple. Better players.

Too bad he sucks at coaching.

Actually, it's a Parcells thing. Garrett was never really the two TE believer. He wanted to throw that into the crapper the minute Bill left the building.

But Garrett is 2-0 this year against the last 2 NFC Super Bowl coaches....hmmm.
He lost to Adam Gase.

That is a firing offense all by itself. Not even taking into account the dozens of bad losses we have all had to sit through over the years.

I’m not clear on the subjective description “sucks “ . lol

With better players he wasn’t able to out coach him last year. What changed ?

So are you now doing another 180 again and trying to say Garrett should be our coach?

I see u were waiting for one win to start touting your hero again.

I was ready to fire him if it was inevitable plus I thought if he was a Lame Duck it was detrimental to our success. But if he can still get this type of performance out of this team perhaps Jerry was right hanging on to him.

Just the sort of thing Jerry was looking for to hang onto his puppet. My favorite puppet. Lol

And I swing whichever the wins or losses blow.

You guys are worried now. Jerry might screw your again.
Ha haha

Not really... Dallas finally decided to stop being cute and get back to what won them games in 2016... THE RUN GAME.
