On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys sign a legitimate backup in 2014, Brandon Weedon, a former 1st round pick and NFL starter.
In 2015 the Cowboys lose Tony Romo for almost the entire season and the Cowboys go on a 7 game losing streak.
There is no doubt that Dak Prescott is a far better QB than Andy Dalton. The season takes a serious hit if Dak is not playing.
Additionally, if Dak end up somewhere else then the Cowboys must use a lot of valuable resources and/or training time to replace him next season. It will take at least a season of experience to acclimate him to the NFL. Few quarterbacks are able to do what Dak did as a rookie, in fact, none.
So the Cowboys just might be contenders in the 2022 season. How much is that worth to Jerry considering the concept of time?
My point is, whatever decision Jerry makes with Dak.... he better be right.
And that also goes for the hiring of his HC, Mike McCarthy.
