Gee, why can't the Rams just make an announcement?

Thats likely what this is a precursor to. They usually want the new coach there when the announcement is made

From rotoworld...

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is on a plane to St. Louis as of Friday afternoon. Schefter could not get confirmation that Garrett has been hired, but the timing obviously indicates it's a probability. Schefter reported earlier that Garrett had emerged as the favorite as of Thursday night. Leslie Frazier and Steve Spagnuolo were considered the other finalists.

Have a nice trip Garrett. Hope everything goes well.

I said it in another thread, but I'll say it again here.

It appears as though some of you guys will get your wish.

We'll lose a young, up-and-coming coach (TWO Top-10 offenses in two years, but admittedly is still learning) and will be left with a 35 year old, past-his-prime WR.

Then in one or two years, we'll cut said WR and will be looking for a young, up-and-coming coach and be complaining and wondering how we can get our hands on a Singletary, Harbaugh, Tomlin, Garrett-type coach.

Some people can't see the forest for the trees.

There is always a Singletary, Harbaugh, Tomlin, Garrett-type coach. The key is being able to pick them out among the many other assistants who fail as head coaches. At this time, we don't even know which category Garrett will fall in.

I also don't worry about our situation at offensive coordinator. I don't believe the offensive success we did have happened because Garrett was the OC but rather because his time at OC coincided with having players like Romo, Witten, Owens and Barber. If I'm an OC candidate, I'm licking my lips looking at what I've got to work with if hired by Dallas.

If Garrett goes, I look forward to seeing what the next guy can do with the toys he's being given.

I have mixed emotions if he does indeed leave. I think he's an average playcaller, but a guy with head coaching potential (see the impression he's made in Baltimore, Atlanta, St. Louis, etc.). My question is: Can he be the head coach, or even a coordinator for another year, with this group -- you know, with the T.O.s, Roys and Craytons?

A part of me also hopes that if he were to leave that would make us soften on our commitment to Wade; meaning I actually hope Garrett leaves and that equates to us getting Shanahan. Yet I have no evidence that this would be the case.

Why did Jerry fall so in love with JG in the first place. It reminds me of the same romance he had with QC. As it is looking for now neither worked out in the long term.

Yet unlike Quincy, a number of other owners/GMs are falling in love with Garrett as a head coach, too. (See: Baltimore, Atlanta)

If Jerry made a mistake here, it was inserting Wade into the equation as a head coach. If Garrett does leave and become a brilliant young mind, we'll look pretty silly for keeping the seat warm with Softy.

nice post. i don't blame garrett nor did i want him gone. i saw flaws in his logic and not playing to our strengths. I think he will be very successful in this league and i wish him luck. The only thing i pray for this off-season was shanahan, and to get that accomplished, this was the first piece of the puzzle.

FWIW, Bryan Broaddus called some people he knew in STL and they said Garrett was indeed now their #1. Hmm. Fishy... How did he go from #3 to #1 so suddenly? Reduction in pay?

Oh well, hope the Rams' O is ready to hear

Last year if we didn't run it I'd say, oh well, they had eight in the box. *** that, I'm not doin' that this year!

Jeah.

And most of us fell for that whole spiel. Hook, line and sinker.

I don't think he was really the #3. Shefter was reporting all along that he was a really strong candidate, and last night he was reporting Garrett had jumped into the #1 spot. Whoever wrote that article didn't have a very good source.

As far as the local guys, do any of them have a relationship with Garrett? Mosely certainly doesn't. Besides, Garrett may have just found out for himself this afternoon and immediately jumped on the plane to hammer out a contract.

YESS!!! Hey I think its great. I wish Garrett the best..If garrett gets it wade will not be the head coach. I believe Shanahan is in and out with the 3-4 defense and the predictable offense. TO likely gone too and he needs to leave with Wade & Garrett. You can get a WR that just makes plays without all the mouth..Hope it happens!! Thanks for the update..

except shanahan likes TO and tried to get him also when he came here. and that our OLB can't play the 43 DE. i don't see us switching to 43 anytime soon.
