I think he has built a roster and a team that is finally beginning to function like a roster and team that knows it's job.

I don't know how anyone can believe this considering we are on pace to statistically be the worse defense in the history of this franchise and maybe even the NFL. Think about that for a moment. And this considering the amount of financial resources and draft picks we allocated to the CB position. There is very little logic in how this roster has been built from the outside in. Add to that the fact that we had to lure a retired offensive lineman out of retirement and play just about every journeyman on a DL because we lacked any depth on the lines is ludicrous. And lets not get into the logic of drafting a TE who can't block in the 2nd round (again) to run the vaunted 12 package.

A game like that after the decade+ of their Keystone Cops impersonation simply calls everything and everybody into question, so freaking pathetic and dysfunctional that absolutely no-one should be spared (starting with the GM).

At that time I think he was overrated and overhyped. Since then Ravens have won a superbowl and we are still average. Question is why?

It's hard to buy that the reputation was all a myth when more than one NFL team was interested in him. Especially one with a GM as good as Baltimore's.

The Ravens won their Superbowl through outstanding QB play and solid defense last season. I'm sure they're not regretting passing on Jason, nor should they be.

It was a classic hot stove stick-em up, well done by Jason. He parlayed 1 talent loaded season with Sparano into what? Like .......$15 - $20 million dollars so far..?
Jason knew that he wouldn't last beyond his second season in Baltimore and went for the long-term annuity. Very smart decision on his behalf.

This is an interesting theory. It still depends on fooling both the Cowboys and the Ravens front offices regarding his competence and his offensive philosophy. I don't think it's very plausible.

Romo's gonna get Garrett fired, cost Jerry a shot at one last SB, continue to underutilize Dez and Witten.

Garrett is gonna get Garrett fired.

Losing in the manner that the team did last Sunday is a rarity and points to a probable future where the coach either seriously looks inside himself and figures out what is wrong and changes, or ends up being what he has shown himself to be and is put out to pasture.

Two simple questions settle this idiotic debate..................

1. When/if Garrett gets fired, how many teams go after him as a head coach?

answer: zero

2. If Romo was released, how many teams try to grab him as fast as possible?

answer: 15

Jets, Miami, Buffalo, Cinn, Clev, Tenn, Hou, Jax, KC, Oak, Philly, Minn, TB, Ariz and STL.

Garrett is the reason this team can't get over the hump, not Romo. Sure, Romo has had some blunders, but he is the only reason this team doesn't average 5 wins a season. Romo masks Jason's deficiencies.

I believe that the injuries, in Jerry's warped mind, have been extensive enough already to buy Garrett another year. At year's end the Detroit game is one Jerry will re-hash and proclaim that game a win without injuries. In his make believe world, at the end of the season, he'll have this team as 12-4 minus the injuries. He'll tell us Jason is the right man, give us that "used-car salesman's wink", and assure us that we are very close to the Super Bowl.

Injuries should buy our defensive coordinators time, not the HC who also happens to have his poor offensive philosophy installed. Both areas need work and it can't be argued, the defense has faced the most over the past two years. Rob took the fall, Monte next.

Of course, Callahan could be the fall guy, who knows these days.

When your car won't start, it would make sense to change the battery or starter, not get new brakes or an oil change.

I agree with you though, Jerry will find a way to sell Jason for one more season if we win the division, even with a 7-9 record and first round exit.

It's not a theory, it has already played out. He didn't fool anybody, he chose his moment well - when his market value was at an all-time high and played Jerry's desire to not lose another Sean to a competitor.

It's a stick em up tactic that happens every spring post bonuses in the financial world, I've done it myself.
Jason would never have the same leverage again and wisely chose the job that gave him 2.5 years of protection from HC scrutiny while being paid top dollar.

He is being raked over the coals because he lost a game that he would've won just by having his qb take a knee.

I'd agree- to an extent.

Parcells 1st year- "Can't call them losers anymore" followed by massive disappointment, a final let's get it right season which tapered off badly and then abandonment when the team did not come through in Seattle.

Wade- "Let freedom ring!" 1st year followed by complacency, one more try for the coach who deserved better- and then an outright quit on both sides of the ball.

Garrett- "We're the Dallas Cowboys, we're trying to do something here..." Infusion of talent, ultra-competitive additions breeds hope. However, JG's game preparation, playbook, and in-game management ability is a shining lie. Consistent choking by both players and coaches will lead to his exit in short order.

So with variations of peaks and valleys for both, they all feel like failures because they have been failures to date.

Garcia isn't qualified to carry Romo's gameday jock.

I would like to hear your rational thoughts on why this team can't get it. Other than the usual Romo sucks of course. You never add anything of value except constant drivel about Tony.

Results matter. The results that Garrett produced so far is mediocre. We can make excuses for not having enough talent, not having a good oline, not having a real defense, poor QB play, etc. But the when the results are in and the coach haven't been producing, everything is on him.

Romo is not getting Garrett fired. Garrett, based on results that he have shown so far, will get himself fired.

Unfortunately the negatives you mentioned are what are always going to hold us back. Failing in terms of game planning and ability to make in-game adjustments are always going to haunt you, especially so in big games and the playoffs. Beyond that can we be sure how much involvement Garrett has had in the building of the team?

I've heard players state that Landry wanted to keep it close in the first half and win it in the 4th quarter. I always felt like if we were close at the beginning of the 4th quarter under Landry we would win. That is not the situation now. It doesn't matter if we are in the lead boing into the second half or even the 4th quarter I am not confident we will win because I have observed that usually the mistakes of the first half are still there in the second half.
