I like Farve but he is acting like a complete moron. He is doing this because he didn't get what he wanted in Moss last year and they didn't do much at all to get him weapons on offense this year, so Farve took his ball home like a baby.

Exactly, he is a great QB and I've always thought so. I remember getting into a fight with Cowboy fans when I said he was better than Aikman 10 years ago. However, he is extremely selfish and hypocritical. He quit the Packers to send a message because he didn't get what he wanted in Randy Moss. Now, he wants to play for someone else to have a chance at a championship. I wouldn't be suprised if he goes to Chicago or Minnesota. Favre has always been about himself but blind and misguided Packer fans always tried to depict him as a hero based on his style of play and personality.

hello

Barry Sanders, Detroit, tried playing for another team, no reentering the game, stay retired

Actually Barry was forced to stay retired because he didn't want to play for the Lions, and they wouldn't release him. Favre WANTS to play for Green Bay, so they can either reinstate him onto the roster, cut him or trade him. Those are really their only choices as long as Favre is willing to play for them.

No team in the NFL can force anyone to retire or stay retired.

The Packers won't release him, which they have a right to do...But, they will deal him, probably not to a division rival like Minny...Only scenario that makes sen$e...It'll just take some time and A LOT of media coverage before it happens

are you serial? retiring means you'll always be a part of the Packers

not playing for Minnesota the following year

oh, I'm not saying this is the way it should have gone down -- Favre is very much in the wrong here. But a warrior like Favre who did so much good for your team... you have to accommodate.

All that GB has to do is trade Farve's butt to a crappy team that has no way of winning this year, that will stick it to him. Farve is good but not that good.

Good luck finding a team that's willing to give Farve 12 million dollars/season plus hand over draft picks.

Bingo they can't trade him with such a high cap number...

and poor ole Aaron Rogers anytime he makes a mistake fans will want to bench him for favre... should they go 14-2 and make it but lose in the superbowl there will be people who will claim that Favre could have won it for them.

I do not see any kind of a win situation for GB...

Yep. Only win is for him to retire.

.. but does anyone else suspect that his original retirement announcement was one big ruse to get away from the Packers? After all, he's asked for his release, not to be welcomed back by his old team and the legions of fans who adore him. Sounds fishy.

I'll tell ya man, there was a story the second night this all broke up here in Green Bay on the local news suggesting the same possibility. It's just not hitting national media for some reason. My guess it's not because it doesn't play into the "bigger" story they wish to sell on a national level.

To me, it's straight-up obvious his retirement wasn't real and nothing but a ruse to get out of Green Bay. AND no, I don't think it has anything to do with them not getting a "randy moss" type, but more the status of the current head coach whom I don't think Favre has ever had one ounce of respect for in the 2 years he's coached there.

There were 2 games here earlier on in the season last season where you could see the problems between McCarthy and Favre. But it came back-to-back at the end of each game where McCarthy's play calling and game management wasn't helping the ticking clock, and it looked very much like Favre in both games had to literally take over coaching on the field after flashing 2 very peculiar looks they caught on camera over to the coach. I mean these were like glares that could kill McCarthy, Brett was so furious. And coincidental, it was right after those two games that the Packers finally seemed to put it all together and become close to unstoppable for the rest of the season until they met us.

So on both accounts, I think McCarthy wants the team he lost last season back from Favre, and I think Favre wants as far away from that moron McCarthy as he can possibly get. This isn't going to end pretty.

Be funny, if GB takes him back, then make him a backup to Rodgers.:laugh2:
its being reported now that's what they are offering Favre :laugh1: i doubt they go through with it but that would be funny if they did. that would really be a big ole middle finger to favre haha! dont hate favre but his act is annoying since they reported that in march apparently he had decided to return but 2 days before the organization was gonna announce his comeback he once again changed his mind and decided to stay retired. now again wants to comeback seriously can you blame the packers for not wanting him back he cant be relied on and not to mention he is getting up there in age. yes he was great last year but eventually his skills will start to deminish and thats gonna be sooner rather than later...

Farve has the final say on any renegotiation of his contract. If the Packers no longer care for the terms of the signed contract then they are free to release him.

doesn't Favre want to play for Minny?

yes, no NFL team can force someone to stay retired, but that may just happen if Green Bay decides to do nothing and insist that he return and compete to win his job back, an inglorious and humiliating proposition, so he just might say **** like Barry did and sit out until he's too old to come back

the Packers also owe it to themselves to not possibly help a rival team

Or they are free to let him stand on the sideline with a clipboard.

Yeah, I actually think that is a real possibility. Call his bluff and see if he's willing to wear the headset. More than likely he'd call another retirement press conference and cry about his love for the game and how he's not allowed to play anymore so he's going home.

Which brings up another point... how many reporters would/will show up for his next retirement press conference? Zero?

Yep. They can pay him $12M to hold a clipboard.

The signed contract is leverage for both sides. It is also detrimental to both sides.

the media loves to ride him hard so it would probably full again of media buying his crap. Seriously Favre brought this all on himself he had the job and was making great money, he deserves no compassion. i hate when players make themselves out to be bigger than the team. No player should ever be bigger than the team!
