The problem is this little statistic doesn't take into account trading away multiple picks to move up for players, awful trades like Galloway and Roy, knee jerk scheme changes, and the inability to create depth consistently over 20 years. Which is why despite all this wonderful draft success he has supposedly had we haven't won a thing in 2 decades.

This GM had to be figuratively tied down last year to avoid blowing his 1st round draft pick on a guy who is now in rehab.

There is no doubt we have drafted better in the last few seasons.

But the Phillips era was not stellar. That is why I will say this until the cows come home, he drafts as well as what advice he is given. It is that simple.

That is a little different from your normal GM arrangement, where they do have real evaluation involved.

Normal?

You mean like GM as glorified chancellor like we see in Washington, NYG, TN, Carolina, Pitt and Cincinnati? Or you mean places with ownerships groups like boards who designate a president like GB? Or do you mean more hands off owners like San Diego and St. Louis? How about the teams that are all over the place between these paradigms like SF and Philly?

We are little different than those chancellor arrangements but for the labels. Normal is a lie.

As if traditional gms don't get the vast majority of their draft evaluation from others.

Come on man don't be obtuse.

just saying that FIVE OF THEM CAME BEFORE JERRUH. So maybe you want to think about your post a little?

3 in 4 years and HOW MANY YEARS SINCE WE EVEN CAME CLOSE? How about 20 YEARS?

Didn't matter 3 in 4 years has happened how many times? Maybe you should rethink your post.

To discredit Jerry for 3 rings is stupid. I want another championship like anybody else but not many active GMs can say they got 3 much less in 4 years

While this might help some feel good about the course of the team over the last 2 decades, I don't find it that impressive. How about a real stat, like division champions, conference or league championships?

That's why it is so frustrating. Other than the Campo years, the organization has fielded some talented squads. They just haven't been able to win consistently.

It's not like they've been Cleveland, who has struggled to put just a handful of players on the field who would start for other teams.

It's mainly due to two things:

1. No real QB between Romo and Aikman
2. Lack of depth at many positions

The only stat that matters is Super Bowl wins. We haven't participated in one in almost 20 years. Just sayin'.

So Super Bowl winner, Trent Dilfer is a better QB than Tony Romo?... of course not. You don't measure individual achievement by SB wins. Just as football is a team sport, SB wins are a team stat. Jerry is an individual, so measure his greatness accordingly. The OP pro bowl stat has merit.

Please explain to me how Jerry Reese is a glorified chancellor. Or how Dave Gettleman is that? Or Kevin Colbert?

Mike Brown is about the only tangible equivalent to Jerry Jones in the NFL.

Normal is still normal, meaning the majority of the teams in the NFL.

Jerry Jones has said it time and time again, he has a unique system. Right from his very mouth. Yet, people keep trying to suggest it is normal.

It is laughable.

Of course not. But they don't suddenly change their direction or perspective based on who the head coach is.

This GM does. That is what happens when that GM cannot judge talent on his own.

There usually is a general thought process and above all else, a consistent approach to talent evaluation and how it relates to the direction of the franchise.

That's not true at all.

So you mean if a competent GM had been acquiring players for a coach who preferred a west coast passing attack and he was fired and a coach was brought in who favored an aerial downfield passing attack that the GM would continue to acquire west coast players?

Come on man.

GMs with a large fan base.

Facts are sometimes annoying.
