Georgia CB Oliver will be selected in the supplemental draft...'boys mentioned

This isn''t the case. Oliver had intended to go back for his senior season. He found out shortly after this year's draft that he had become academically ineligible to play next year, and thusly opted for the supplemental rather than sitting around doing nothing for a year.

I think we should consider the kid if he runs well. Both CB's are near 30 and we need to start adding younger players.

Henry will be done in a couple of years most likely, so with the extra pick in the draft next year, it is the perfect oppurtunity to address the position.

Henry is an old thirty, Newman hasn't played as long and is a workout FREAK...

If Oliver does well in his workouts and all, and they feel compelled to draft a CB now, I say do it.

Really? You would only spend a 3rd round pick on a guy that was pretty much a consensus top 10 pick in '08?

I sure hope not. I would definitely go with a 3rd and maybe a 2nd depending upon his workouts.

If we get a pass rush, then it'll make the job for the CBs a lot easier, and they'll be fine. When you get no pass rush you need 2 great CBs to make plays half the time. Not many teams in the NFL have that. Last year we couldn't get a pass rush the last half of the season.

Have to agree here -- that 2nd rounder is going to be held back -- Jerry sees a chance in 2008 and to get a serious impact player -- if he has to use both 1s and a 2 to do it, he will.

Im not sure you guys realize how good Oliver is. He played in the SEC and was routinely good at shutting guys down. He would be a top fifteen pick for sure next year if he had stayed for his senior year

That's what I've been reading about him since he's declared for the supp....so a second sounds very reasonable (if not great value).

The only reason why I wouldn't spend a 1st on him is that preseason rankings can fluctuate greatly as the year progresses and anything more than a 2nd (at this point) should be considered very high risk.

W/ that said, I betcha if he runs a pretty good 40, some team drafting in the lower third will give up a first for him.

But you see, that is all based on maybe.

What I'm talking about is a much more likely scenario -- you've got 2 first and a 2nd -- you can usually do whatever you want to move around with that sort of ammo.

Holding Johnson to two catches doesn't necessarily mean this guy is that good, considering the horrendous QB Georgia Tech had. What kind of game did he have against Johnson and other top recievers in his career?

This reminds me of a couple of years ago, that RB from Georgia Tech, Hollings, who came out in the supplemental draft. We just had to have him, and probably would have if the Toxins had spent a second round pick on him.

Last I heard this Hollings kid is running second team in NFL europe.

^^ well it was a lot of man to man coverage. They were blitzing the hell out of Ball hoping to rush his decisions and he did of course.

But Oliver is almost a conscensus top 15 pick for next year. He wasnt a one game wonder. In SEC competition he proved himself time and time again.

And Im NOT EVEN A UGA fan.
