I think Fournette still has something to add in the right situation. Good short yardage and good out of the backfield catching passes. I will say that rb is not our biggest weakness as of today though.
I actually kind of like Fournette at a relatively cheap price. I just don’t think he would come as cheaply as I’d like.

Dallas cut Elliott… he was never signing back here.

Cook is just a slower Pollard and cost waaaaayyyy too much. He was never signing here either.

Fournette… the only thing above average about him has been his salary.

They’ll be fine with Pollard, Davis or Dowdell, and Deuce.
And Luepke, I hope.
I agree, we have RBs.

We need to sign Fournette before the only thing left are scraps.

Why? Guy who as running with cinder block booties last season. Just because you’ve heard someone’s name before doesn’t mean they’re worth or need signing!

I think it’s pretty safe to say Leonard Fournette would be better than Malik Davis and Rico Dowdle. He put up almost 700 yards in 9 games last season. He’s definitely on the decline, but I like him better than what we have.
He played in 16 games last season. He started 9. He averaged a paltry 3.5 ypc and 41 yards per game. Basically numbers you can get from a #3 backup while wearing a walking book!

He was battling a foot injury. The only real upside is he’s a proven player with experience. Pollard is our only proven back right now and he’s coming off a serious injury.
Tony was 100% healthy months ago. That injury has no residual issues.

It’s already been mentioned.

I don’t think he’s been a full go in training camp yet. We’ll see when the regular season starts if he’s still the same player.

Wait , another guy stuck in the year 1993???? WTH is wrong with you guys??? This ain’t your dads football anymore boys. You don’t have to have big time, big money running backs to win. In fact, teams that do have those guys, don’t win!! There’s a reason why they cut Zeke. There’s a reason why all these guys aren’t getting big money. Super Bowl teams don’t build their team around the RB position anymore. I’ve said it in countless other threads but apparently y’all aren’t getting it. Go look at all the Super Bowl teams the last 10 years. Look at their running backs. Stop living in 1990’s. The Cowboys FO finally has came around and we will probably be contending for a few years now.

For me it comes down to production, and Dowdle didn’t produce at least not in the running game. He did okay as a receiver, but we need more and he can’t afford to put the ball on the ground, especially when we’re in position to score.
What’s your definition of production? The average running back numbers of the last ten superbowl winners might change your mind. Again, stop living in 1993
