You're getting worked up over nothing, don't you see this? This is a popular forum, so there will obviously be trolls and annoying individuals. A simple post from you won't do jack to stop this, in fact it may even provoke more stupid posts.

I disagree

While it may not stop some of the nonsense that happens on a public forum Cobra did in fact articulate exactly how I felt but it in a manner that I never could have expressed.

Excellent post Cobra…….

There needs to be a restricted area on this site where some of the “veteran” fans can interact. The redundant rhetoric that gets posted not just here but on EVERY teams discussion boards gets tiring.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Well.... I probably could've, but not by a whole lot. I mean marginally better, you know? Probably twice as good, but no more than that.

Good post Cobra!

I hate freaking whiners!

No. If you read my message, you'd understand what I am saying.

A forum doesn't require the nonsense I was referring to above.

A discussion of the roster or a system or about the past or something is just fine. Asking about a player and how they might fit our roster. Talking about whether one player over another should start. Talking about our realistic chances next week. Those things make sense and are what makes this forum great.

It's the stupid "OMG HERE IS SOME OVERSTATED RHETORICAL NONSENSE BASED ON ONE LITTLE THING I SAW" that this forum can do without. The forum can do without the idiots who think they have fully evaluated and can speak definitively about a player who hasn't played, about how our system is clearly flawed, about how our coaches are clearly morons, about how teams are going to clearly destroy us, or some other ignorance. And the morons who think we need 23 year old pro bowlers 1st-3rd string or else they are going to be "worried" about them.

In other words, this forum would be great if people would think before posting and apply some perspective and thought to something instead of just tossing out whatever little random nugget of ignorance that crosses their mind.
I dont mean to argue with you.. I think you are a good poster and I like you.. and I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying.. but, honestly, this is just the nature of forums.. it's like when you go to a game at Texas Stadium.. there are gonna be some drunk idiots who start screaming and cussing every time Bledsoe throws an incompletion and every time the other team gains four yards.. is it irritating? yes.. do they look stupid? yes.. but those idiots have every bit as big a right to be at Texas Stadium as you do.. they paid for their ticket and they have a seat.. you have two choices: get mad and angry at them and let it ruin your experience, or you just accept it and actually embrace it as part of the atmosphere.. i choose the latter..

Look at it this way.

It's like walking into a donut shop. You go in, and you know you want the chocolate covered. But you look around, and you see all sorts of cream-filled, lemon flavored, pineapple-covered crap, and you think...wait, this bothers me.

So you decide to do something about it, and you say in a loud voice to no one in particular, "Enough of that cream-filled crap! I've had it up to here!" And yeah, maybe there's somebody else in the store who feels the same way about the cream-filled crap, but never spoke out, just always paid for his glazed and went on his way.

Does that person feel like now he has a voice, and you are it? Are you his champion? Probably not. More likely, he's thinking, "hope this crackpot doesn't have a gun," and casually heading for the exit.

He never even thought about the cream-filled, actually. Just knew it was there, and clicked on something else.

You are very wise grasshopper......others can benefit from your knowledge.

This board would not be the best cowboys message board on the net if everybody thought the same. Or if everybody had the same knowledge level.

I love coming here and having discussions about ALL of OUR players. I like hearing new ideas and learning things I might not have known. Disagreeing with people and going back and forth is one of the main reasons I come back here everyday.

Without different perspectives, we'd all be zombies here. This board would dye slowly if we were all on the same page all the time. There is nothing wrong with worrying about any player on this roster, or wanting better. We are all HUGE DC Fans and that's why we are here. We all want OUR BOYS to do well. Some are more optimistic some more pessimistic. But we are all fans just the same. We are here to complain, cheer, and discuss Cowboys all the time.

Don't like it leave or don't read or respond to certain posts/posters.
Block users, whatever, just stop crying.

You disagree with what? The fact that I said that this won't do anything or have no effect on the idiot posters, or the fact that since this is a popular forum there will always be idiot posters?

The reason I said it "wasn't a big deal" is because it will never change. This is a forum, people voice their opinions, regardless of how stupid their opinions may be. Complaining about it does nothing, and won't do anything, because nothing will ever change. Go visit other forums and you'll see the same damn thing.

If you don't like it, I think you should leave the forums. Just wait, just wait if our team shows the promise of a possible Super Bowl team. Think it's bad now? Just wait...

Complaining is one thing. Being a complete moron (not referring to you) is something else entirely.

Wait...you mean fans at Texas Stadium know how to get emotional and actually scream at their team...good & bad...:lmao2:

Seems they never get up for that, just sit.....

OK..had to take a jab at the sometimes "not so loud" crowds

OK, OK.. how about this then: we will make a list of everyone on these forums that is a moron or who has said moronic things at one time.. the moderators can make a master list and post it in a sticky at the top of the forum that reads, "If Your Name Is On This List of Morons, You Have Lost Posting Privileges".. that would suck though, cause Cobra and Rack would be the only two guys that would ever get to post again..

come on, I'm trying to be lighthearted here but also trying to make a point.. everyone says stupid things from time to time.. we are all passionate about our team.. just like you are passionate about your girl and that will cause you to say some stupid things.. good or bad.. sometimes you just love her so much that you feel like she is a perfect 16-0 on the season.. sometimes you just are so bummed out by something she did that you feel like you want to put her on the waiver wire..

by the way, Cobra and Rack, I wasnt attacking you two at all.. I like both you guys and think you are both great posters.. Im just trying to make a point here..

I'm pissed.

I'm tired as hell of some of the posters on this board and their attitudes.

Every other thread is by someone who is "scared" or "worried" or someone who is "going to go ahead and say 'it'". It's all rhetorical B.S.

The season hasn't even started yet. And people are making posts about how they know we are doomed because they are worried about the vulnerability of our back-up equipment manager or some other nonsense. We have fans who grossly over-estimate their ability to evaluate football players and systems while, at the same time, drastically under-estimate the ability of the professionals who our team to see the same thing. We have fans who have determined for good a player's worth without even playing a down. We have fans who think players fall apart if they are over the age of 24. And the worst of all? The morons here who feel that our team is somehow deficient unless we are 3 deep of 21 year Pro Bowlers at every position.

Get some freaking perspective! Quit demanding absurd things from this team. Reserve your judgment instead of popping off about something that will only result in you having your foot in your mouth at a later date. Here is a free hint: if you think you have spotted something that is the Key To It All... something that is the easy solution or evaluation... and it isn't something that everyone else is saying, then you are probably wrong. And one more basic precept: not everyone shares your opinion so don't confuse "Me" with "everyone."

Now, don't confuse my point and think that I am saying I want nothing but homer posts by people saying how we are going to go 16-0. I don't want that garbage either.

It would be great, though, if as fans we could be mature enough and show enough football acumen to not be irrational morons about things.

Be reasonable. Be practical. Show some insight and quit being rhetorically asinine.

Thanks for letting me share.
For God's sake don't ever go to an actual game, you may kill yourself.

Why would we do that?

Neither the initial post nor the responses violate any guidelines.

And no, we don't move and delete posts at will. It's all about the guidelines. Folks should read them sometimes. Seriously.

Cobra, while I agree with your sentiment, negativity is the raison d'etre of the internet, and specifically blogs and webboards. When the Cowboys lose, there are 1000 more posts in the first two hours after the final gun than if we win. People like to piss and moan about everything. If you don't believe, try this experiment. Start a thread stating that "player x is really coming through", it will get maybe 5-10 responses. Then start a thread "player x is a major bust and waste of money". It will garner 50-100 responses. Negativity sells, that is why Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity do so well.

Check the game thread out for Minnesota game. It was 7-0 but judging from the posts, I swore we were down 77-0.

I dont really have any issues with *what* is said.. it's a forum, posts are gonna run the gamut.

I have more of an issue with the way the same things get said over and over. I'm sure I miss a lot of good points certain people make.. because they're buried in a 8 or 12 page thread thats just otherwise the same 2 or 3 people goin at it over and over.. I dont read those threads for the most part.

Or like breaking stories. Whats the difference in the make up between posters who post it and those who dont bother even though they're already logged on to the forum and watching sportscenter when the story breaks? I would never bother posting it because I know for a fact that 10 other people already are in the process.

Course the same thing could be said for just posting in general. Theres reasons why some people might only have a few dozen or few hundred posts as opposed to a few thousand or more. And it doesnt always have to do with the amount of time a person has.

But oh well.. this stuff is just the nature of a popular forum.
