Mara told them to play the other qb’s.

Mara claimed after it happened that he meant if they were losing late in the game or if they were getting blown out.

Either way Mara fired them to save face with the fan base. Pure public relations.

And if they turn around and start him this week it does nothing but further the bad look. Ruin his streak only to reinsert him the next week after firing those coaches? It’s an awful look that I’m sure players will take note of.

To be honest I would rather play Eli. Geno wasn't bad yesterday and his mobility could've been an issue. Eli is a statue in the pocket and I think Lawrence and Irving will get to him.

If our team were fearful of playing geno Smith then they need to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Granted Garrett has not had a great track record vs back up qbs

The Giants have fired head coach Ben McAdoo and General Manager Jerry Reese less than a week after McAdoo announced that Geno Smith would start at quarterback instead of Eli Manning.

The way McAdoo presented that decision to the public, including an offer to let Manning start games with Smith or rookie Davis Webb entering later, was roundly criticized, but co-owner John Mara made it clear that it had been done with his OK. Mara also suggested that what was discussed with McAdoo and Reese was somewhat different than what wound up being presented and said that the negative reaction was louder than he expected

I just listened to Shane Vereen on wfan. I don’t think the players care, he actually said Geno was really competitive and was competing late in the fourth quarter.

None of the teams current players came to manning s defense last week, it was all former players.

Again it’s all just PR. They don’t want protests and banners and an empty stadium vs Dallas, Washington and Philly. This way manning plays and the fans come to see him off.

Well this is what you got. What has it gotten you to complain about it on a message board except kill every thread with the same thing. IN every single thread. Not specifically you in every thread but this same type of talk.

IM by no means a homer i have plenty of problems with this team, but those issues dont get in the way of me enjoy watching this team every week. I can see this team has got something going. This yr was a roller coaster because of bad choices by players not the coaches. And one vendetta by the league.

The giants were doomed before the season. They didnt get any kind of OL help in what was already a bad OL. They lost OBJ in preseason, and they didnt improve a running game that was non-existent. I can understand Reese being fired because he did nothing to keep NYG from being one dimensional passing team with no OL to block.

Pay attention Jerry Jones, because it's been 10 years of Jason Garrett, we've not done much, and now we need wholesale changes. You can say all the cute words you want but those are still the facts.
Say what you want about New York Giants, but they realize when they are going downhill and they try to do something about it.

That's what I'm thinking too. Teams tend to play harder after their coach is fired plus Eli getting the start.
