Mara has no backbone at all. He's a sniveling weasel.

When the Josh Brown situation came to light, he hid from the press, and actually made McAdoo answer for it every day, even though McAdoo had no say in personnel, and had nothing to do with Brown's contract extension.

When the time came for the Manning benching, rather than make himself directly involved in the move, and to speak to the press as it happened, he left it to his special needs head coach to deliver and execute the move. When it went like the train wreck that it did, Mara then suddenly decided to speak to the press, and blamed the execution even though he had signed off on the whole thing, in fact, he made the suggestion to Reese and McAdoo. He also let word of the imminent firing leak ahead of yesterday's game, and let his coach twist in the wind.

Does that sound like someone with backbone?

Thanks for the relevant history. I can see why he and Goodell get along so well.

Pioli is from suburban NY (grew up in the town next to where I grew up), and is Parcells' son in law. The NY papers have proferred that this would bring Parcells back to the organization in a ceremonial capacity.

Yes but never had any actual affiliation with the organization. He is more tied to the jets from Parcells than the giants.

It's impressive how the Giants spit the bit with their new regime, spent ~$100MM or whatever it was on defense in FA, imploded in embarrassing fashion, have to start over from scratch, and are now being held up as a paragon of bold management.

I just don't understand how some of you process information and arrive at decisions.

Ben McAdoo had no ties to the Giants when he was hired. Neither did George Young or Ernie Accorsi. That's irrelevant.

True but McAdoo’s hiring was about not changing the offense on an older qb.

This is the worst giants season in 41 years. I imagine they are going to find something stable to avoid this situation again.

I'm going to miss that signature McAdoo..do! Maybe he can use his hair gel to adhere himself somewhere in the Giants facility to prevent his ouster?

Hey McAdon't, I guess that key card doesn't work anymore. :muttley: Who didn't see this coming from a mile away. You know Eli will be playing lights out and their team will rally around their interim head coach. They would love nothing more than to dash our hopes of a playoff seed.

2-10. This is a bad Giants team. Go up there, run the ball, and squash all that noise. This is our revenge game.
We should still win this game.

I don't care who's coaching them the rest of the season. It's like putting lip stick on a pig.

When you constantly start with a pre-determined conclusion and then work your way backwards you can come up with some pretty interesting logic/rationale.

They deserved to go but a big part of the timing of this is Mara saving face.

Now Eli will go back to starting and it will deflect the attention to McAdoo for his benching.

Really hated to see Coach Mr McGoo go. Heck they might get someone who knows what he's doing.

I don’t understand why Macado was not given more time, it takes a good 10 years to build a roster and the Giants were 11-5 last season and lost a key player in OBJ this year so they should get a pass for the season.

I just don’t get it

Oh give it a rest. Mara is a spineless coward. He's using McAdoo as a scapegoat trying to say he wished he was in NY and not the owners meetings to be involved in the Eli situation. This is why Jerry is loved by past players and coaches. Because he doesnt do Cowardly bull like this.

I don't think McAdoo have the guts to bench Eli in the first place.

Because organizationally he was a disaster. And because most of the time, team management--who works first-hand with the coaching staff and is right there basing decisions off of an analysis more complicated than a won-loss record--knows who's doing good work and who's doing bad work.
