Giants making moves. Cowboys waiting

It's also a bit bizarre that many of the people preaching patience and don't sign any big name free agents are the same ones complaining about taking a QB at 4 because you have to win NOW with Romo on his last legs. Well if we can't take a QB at 4 because we need to win now, then bargain shopping in free agency doesn't make much sense either.

Precisely. But that is part of the delusion, having it both ways.

NO QB AT 4! MUST WIN NOW! - never mind that rookies take a year or so to make an impact, even ones taken in the top 5

NO SPENDING IN FREE AGENCY! - never mind the fact that veterans are more capable of stepping in and contributing sooner

Giants and Eagles both making moves you would expect from a sub .500 football team. Obviously every signing doesn't pan out, but the logical thinking is that when you dont perform you have to try to bring in impact players, make impact deals in order to change that. The Jones boys really think they are the Patriots and can just sit back and relax every offseason.

with the current talent we have, and I am one who wanted Williams and Jackson, and with our current draft order - we should be able to get better with young talent. I mean picking 4th and 34th is huge. But I do know we have some holes to fill so maybe one big name/talent. I'm confused.

Skins resigned McCoy.

I am going to laugh when the solution to one of our biggest problems according to Jerry is Kellen Moore.

If all they have going into the draft is Moore I would think it reveals their draft plan.

My fear is we reach for a QB in the 2nd.

One more quick comment..

I think Forte will be a Cowboy or Patriot.

Unless we vastly improve in drafting this strategy will NEVER work.

The team doesn't draft nearly as poorly as some suggest.

I have seen ridiculous expectations though. People saying with a straight face every draft you need to come out with a star and 3 other above average players.

I really question how much those folks follow the league outside of the Cowboys.

Exactly
Some fans just don't get it

Don't forget Denver who signed all those big name FAs
How'd that work out for them ?

And what about the Commanders? Eagles? Colts? Jets? Dolphins? I could go on.

How did their big free agencies play out?

Point is - the way Dallas drafts you cannot ignore free agency. It won't work. We aren't the Packers or Patriots.

Mine too. It'll end up being Dak Prescott in the 2nd and the Jones boys will think they outsmarted the league again. Like they did when they drafted Quincy Carter out from under everyone...

I think Forte ends up with the Packers. Which would prove me completely wrong as I didn't think they would be willing to pay because they typically don't.

Explain to me what's going on up there? They souring on Eddie L?

Possibly, given what he did last year. But more likely they want a proven compliment and an upgrade over Starks.

This is a pretty weak free agent class. So far it is what I expected it to be. We aren't going to improve by signing back up linebackers either, are we? We still have to sign a couple of starters to improve the team. Because if you aren't improving, you are falling behind. Let's just wait and see before we jump in front of the train.

Or a Packer. Julius Peppers is apparently recruiting him hard.

Ahhh..

That's kind of surprising. I guess they are done with Lacy not being in shape.

If I were an aging RB like that i'd rather go to a warm climate like Dallas and play in a dome.

You are what you are. We've been mediocre for years.
