Anyone who thinks building a defense and going cheap at QB is a smart route to the Super Bowl is wrong. Unequivocally.

So yes, I'll keep saying that. There is no team successful team who does that in the current NFL.

no one said that

you’re building strawmen as usual

QB is the most important position on the team but that doesn’t mean we should be ok with paying a good QB elite money at 40 million and hamstring ourselves

it’s called a nuanced argument

If the Cowboys did use the nonexclusive tag it would almost guarantee Dak plays on the tag again and then the Cowboys risk losing him for nothing in free agency the following year.
Exclusive or non-exclusive, doesn’t matter. He’s gone next year either way. Dak would be an URFA because the Cowboys won’t FT him again for $50m.

This is 100 pct true. The reality is they should have extended Dak instead of Captain Cabo. They didn’t. It makes no sense. Jerry loses leverage everyday. The price tag goes up. Now many of the potential trading partners have grabbed another QB. Jerry has a history of moronic GM moves. This might be his Mona Lisa.

Lol I love the username.

Um yes, that is exactly what I was responding to.

You don't get to use the word nuance when your grasp on the English language is the same as an ESL student.

They should’ve done this last year.

Dallas constantly gives themselves no leverage..

I don’t know if they are trying to negotiate like honorable gentlemen in hopes of a discount but Todd France is making them look like fools.

Exactly, this was being discussed in 2019 by you and I, as I recall.

Jump into the new era fuzzy, within the next 3-4 years you are going to see that change significantly.
Do you think its just a coincidence that the smart brain trust in this league are resetting franchise QB value?

Not in veteran free agency they are not.

And exactly what reset? Wentz and Goff severely underperformed.

It's funny that people claim that Dak is not elite yet his projected -and met- production of 5000 yards 34 TD is top 5.

The only team that has proven your theory, is the KC Chiefs. Most rookie QB's, don't have squat around them, because management believes that he alone can carry the team. A rookie QB (unknown), an extra first round pick (unknown), and a fantasy amount of capital ($40 million); nets you nothing but hope. Dak, plus current picks (unknown), and the maneuvering of current contracts; nets you possibilities.

Even the Chiefs drafted their qb, got a chance to develop and evaluate him, and then moved on from Alex Smith. They didn't trade Alex Smith and then sa

I see a picture of Wilson and Goff. You stated that Wilson has great abilities. You stated that Dak is the same as Goff, but no picture or numbers to back up what you are saying. Dak, can throw beyond his first read. Does he make plays like Wilson, no, but please don't make assessments without any proof. What years are you giving stats on? What is Wison's rank, relative to Mahomes or Rogers?

What does Mahomes or Rodgers have to do with RW and Dak and Goff? Here is 2018-2019 for example:

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-rankin...rows-patrick-mahomes-drew-brees-aaron-rodgers

This was when RW was 8th among QB in performance in the second progression per PFF, while Dak was third in highest drop off in QB rating next to Goff and Tannehil. DP also had the privilege of being in the ranks of Flacco and Mitch Trubisky and none of them had the personnel like Dak did regarding RG impacting play-action usage and pass blocking OL.

And the same thing happened last year when Dak was basically throwing as much as Winston and was sacked only 23 times, he along with Goff were top 4 in QB rating drop off in first read to second read QBs, while their passing offenses are heavily dependent on play-action, while Russell Wilson jumped up to number 1 in QB performance per second read, with no offensive line and RG.

Now if you want to do more research, Google is your friend or the search bar here, you can go and look through my posts and see whether I just make things up or not.

None of these dudes telling Jerry to pay Dak would pay him, if it was there own money, especially coming off his broken leg and two years full of garbage time stats. It’s comical they are even claiming it was Jerry that made the mistake and not Dak for turning down an extension when it was offered. Jerry supposedly made the mistake for franchising him, though Dak balked and signed at the last second, and this was when Smith and Collins were still slated to start, and Martin was healthy. He then proceeded to throw like 4 INTs and fumbled like 3 times this season, which allowed garbage defenses the opportunity to put the opposing offenses in scoring position to build big leads. Then he ends up breaking his leg in a game against the Giants where he was scrubbing like usual, only for Moore to take the ball out of his hands and give it to Zeke in heavy dosages. That’s actually what happened if you go back and read the full play-by-play.

We are supposed to buy Jerry made a mistake by not paying a guy 40 million this year, a guy who broke his leg and missed like 10 games. Who makes a mistake by not losing ten million dollars? Now he’s supposed to offer him a big deal, while he hasn’t shown anything on the field after his injury, and his mechanics are already a mess at times when healthy, because he feeds homeless people?

Stop making me laugh with this Jerry should have paid this dude..

People forget that Jerry already called out Dak’s garbage time stats, so he very well isn’t fooled by these games.

Plus, Stephen Jones himself knew what Dalton was working with, as opposed to what Dak was working with and what he worked with and the Jones have maintained all along that Dak needs to be surrounded by major talent to win, meaning this season actually proved THEIR point. The Dak fans railing on the defense and every other excuse besides Dak are actually proving the Jones right. The Jones actually made the mistake by letting this mediocre QB ruin a talented team primed to make a run:

Stephen Jones: “I think he’s done a great job especially when you look at the challenges we’ve had there in our offensive line. They’re getting better every week. It’s nice to play with the same group of guys that are out there week in and week out. As we all know, we’re probably down to our fifth and sixth tackles when you consider Zack [Martin] was probably our fourth option. But [Terence] Steele and [Brandon] Knight are hanging in there. They’re going to work and fighting. And Connor McGovern stepped up. Connor Williams, and certainly [Tyler] Biadasz is going to be working in there with [Joe] Looney. So, it’s good to have a group up there. I think as we’ve gotten better certainly Andy is getting more confidence. We’re protecting the ball well.

Had they signed Dak to a new deal the cap hit would not have been $40 million. Probably closer to $20 million. If Dak plays on a 2nd tag that is $37 million cap hit and one again would be higher than the cap hit on a new contract.

Interesting take, if viewed from the fact they should have signed him last year for 40 million and he then goes on to prove himself as “all-world” like a Mahomes QB, coming off a broken leg’, as of its likely. A one-time cap hit is not the same as a multiple year contract that affects the cap overall, but I haven’t done those numbers and maybe you have and think it’s better. I’d be interested in hearing your take on this point specifically.

Remember, it was Dak that rejected the original offer in 2018 and he wanted a 40 million deal, so blaming the Jones doesn’t work if your not blaming Dak for rejecting the original deal, especially considering if Stephen didn’t go out and get Amari to bail Dak out, Dak would probably be looking for a job somewhere else.

All of this assumes Dak is that legit, and the Jones clearly don’t believe it.

We could get lucky and receive 2 first round picks for him. The Colts traded for Wentz so they're out of the running. The Saints don't have enough cap room. Maybe a team like the Panthers (8th pick), Jets (2nd pick), or Broncos (9th pick) sign him.
They couldnt trade Dak even if he was on board with it. Nobody is going to give up a 1st round pick for a player that has yet to come back from his latest injury.
