But it would give the Cowboys a choice to match, or get two 1st round picks.... at least it provides choices

I see, and you can explain that statement correct?

I am guessing you don't remember having already answered this question before, BTW.

"Statistics matter they are a mathematical representation of real life events and as such can quantify and evaluate players on one level. At the same time it should not be the entire evaluation but I've never claimed it should be."

Why do Stats matter in terms of paying Dak 45 AAV, explain it to me. They show nothing of importance in the only mathematical equation that truly matters in this discussion. Explain your position.

Lol yes they are. They can throw the ball.

They are so much further ahead than those teams.

It just really simple,,, just comes down to player talent evaluation,, its that simple
    Talent = Cap
the successful teams have this somewhat figured out, those that are best at it seem to succeed.

I agree that Offensively, we are better, but not that much better. Cowboys averaged 24.7, Bears 23.3, Skins 20.9 and Denver 20.2. All 4 teams are in the bottom half of the NFL in terms of points per game.

Consequently, all three of these teams are better then the Cowboys, in terms of points allowed per game so it kind of evens out.

That would be just part of the leverage that France and Dak would have to except.
No team in this league would bite on the non exclusive tag for Dak.

The Cowboys were at about 31 ppg before Dak got hurt. OF course the QB situation with the Bears, Washington and Denver wasn't very settled either.

Cowboys can throw the ball....but cant play defense....Bears, Washington and Denver have good defenses just suck on offense.

Ok and throwing the ball is 500000000000000000x more important than having a good defense.

If you don't have a passing game you don't have anything. "Run the ball and play defense" is not a concept that works in the modern NFL.

I was actually just poking a little fun at the language in the post I responded to. "I don't think no teams …"

But, to respond to you, I don't think there are many QBs teams would give that up for. Mahomes, sure, and maybe Russell Wilson, but I'm not sure anyone other than those two. Rodgers age might make people hesitate because to give up 2 first rounders a team needs to plan on that player being around and playing at a top level at least 4-5 more years.

That's why I disagree with people when they say the non-exclusive tag provides the chance to see what a player is worth on the open market. It really doesn't because a team doesn't have to give up 2 first round picks to sign a player on the open market. That dramatically changes how many teams would be willing to negotiate, and what they might offer.

This never was nor will be leverage at all.
    In any way.

I seriously weep for our collective lack of logic.

    A non-exclusive tag does zero TO Dak Prescott. Z E R O.
He signs the offer whenever he chooses and gets paid 37.7M when he does.
He doesn't even as much as have to entertain any offers that might come in. BUT HE COULD.
He plays out this year then he gets to be a true unrestricted free agent.
His agent doesn't have to make or take a single phone call.

Some of you guys live in a fantasy world with goulash for brains.

yes but will dak sign the tag, and if he doesnt till june , can other teams even make offers?
Cowboys cant trade him until he signs the tag either, so again dak can wait until june, and then other teams will have lost interest or already
    got a qb.
everyone is assuming dak will just sign a tag, but I think he wont until last minute.

It doesn't really matter when Dak signs the tag. Dallas can't trade him unless he wants to be traded. He can sign the tag tomorrow and that's it. He doesn't have to sign anything else. No team is going to give the Cowboys assets in a trade for a player that won't sign with them.

That's as good of an example as any. But there is a possible silver lining if he does get signed. That's if the cap spikes in 2-3 years. But until then it won't be pleasant.

Sort of like spending too much on a car, but you know your salary will double in a years time.

But if you were to suffer a set back, that car could easily become the difference between managing your bills and destroying your credit and losing the car, all together. It's a management thing. But it's also late on a Friday Afternoon so I'm gonna get up outta here.

Flam, you be careful this weekend, be safe but have fun. That goes everybody. Welcome to the weekend Y'all!
