They aren't making the playoffs because they still have holes and their DC blows.

But it's a decent enough start for the 2026 season.

You gave up all of 2nd rounder this year to shore up a position you have failed to fix for at least 5 seasons.
Instead of a 2nd round rookie DT you are plugging in an All-Pro DT.
You also move 2.5M in dead money off in regularly inactive Mazi Smith.

Jerry is still an idiot but the Parsons, Pickens and QW trades have been superb.

ESPN ripping the trade and although I think they’re being a bit harsh, I’d have preferred we keep our draft capital. Jerry is making win now moves because he sees that the end for him is near and desperately wants to see the team succeed. But a more patient approach would have likely yielded better results.

I do however think that being coddled and overpaid causes people to perform below potential. And anyone with basic reading comprehension understood my point immediately.

This is 100% a “thing”. Players that have left for other teams have alluded to this, notably DLaw. The Dallas environment is toxically soft and that absolutely affects players and their contributions on the field on some level.

Nobody doubts Williams is a quality player but it's an odd trade. This season is done. He will be almost 29 years old when we get into the nuts and bolts of the 2026 season. Will he still be an All Pro player?

I just fear that the move actually holds back the Cowboys to have teams that can compete for several years and how it will be sustainable given the salary cap especially with Pickens and Williams potentially being retained plus the $231 million guaranteed money to Prescott on that 4 year contract.

Not moaning just thinking about the actual long term benefit.

I don't trust this front office to do anything. But having two first round picks opens up lots of opportunities in the draft. This team isn't one player or two players away. It's in need of a complete overhaul. Defensive Coordinator on down.
