TRADED Glazer: Cowboys trade for DT Quinnen Williams

Clark is gone.

No way they are paying that much to Osa, Clark AND Williams
Don't think so, they are going all in 26 and 27, plenty of things you can due contractually to make the 3 DT salaries easily fit and sign Pickens. Then you have the Jerry factor and no way he releases OSA (after just signing) or Clark after just trading for him.

It’s a good deal when you factor in the cap savings. We were able to sign Tyler Smith and Bland and we still have cap room to work with.
The cap factor is (or better was) to me a big reason to not sign Parsons. And yes you are right.

But Williams earns top DT money anyways. So you cant argue with his salary. You would have saved money always by signing a top DT compared to a top pass rusher.

And there is a reason for that: top pass rushers have more value. But our brainless FO said NO: For us spending nearly the same resources on a DT means we value both the same.

Our decissionsmakers in the FO are flat out bad at negotiations

This defensive line could end up being sneaky good down the stretch. If there was one bright spot from last night's game it was Donovan Ezeiruaku continues to get better and better. With Quinnen Williams right next to him EZ could start to wreak some more havoc.

I don’t see it. He doesn’t look good to me and his PFF grades are bad. Hard pass for me.
Clark is a good player for us.

He eats up double teams and controls the OL so others have one on ones. He does all the dirty work but he is worn down by time . Because the other DL players who play like crap.
Especially Osa who is a no show after Parsons left.

We paid a Parsons price for a guy with one sack this year, who hasn't made the Jets defense better, and who's numbers have been on a steady decline since his 12 sack season. And to top it all off, the Jets get whichever first is higher. Huge overpay.

We got to low first rounders and a DT for Parsons.

Now you give up one of those first rounders and a very possible high 2nd rounder and a DT for Williams.

Thats essentially Parsons for Williams.

Still think this is a good trade ?
Let’s face it. Parsons was traded because Jerry was butt hurt over the fact his handshake deal was not accepted and salary cap not did not want to pay 45 million per year

They needed another DT long term anyway. Why not pick up a proven all-pro in Williams instead of gambling this team doesn't draft another Mazi Smith?
I'm not hating the player. He's a really good player.

This defense needs an infusion of talent. Not just one player, but the entire defense virtually. Giving up multiple picks for one player isn't the way to go to rebuild an entire defense. It's that bad.

You make trades when the guys are available.
QWilliams has not been available even though every NFL team wanted him.

Logan Wilson was a solid upgrade over Kenneth Murray for a 7th but is a shorter-term guy. At that price who cares.
QWilliams and Pickens are elite talents in their primes.

Fire Eberflus this off-season, hire a good scheme guy and go draft young defenders.

Make no mistake eyes will still bleed watching this team this year but at last, they have a real direction and chance to get better soon.
Draft a starting CB, move DaRon back into the slot, Draft a big SAM LB, get healthy at safety and you can be cooking with grease next year.
Agree with all stated, but I think you also need another edge.

Front 7 should be drastically improved, but secondary remains a huge weakness. Really need Revel to become a player back there

Nobody doubts Williams is a quality player but it's an odd trade. This season is done. He will be almost 29 years old when we get into the nuts and bolts of the 2026 season. Will he still be an All Pro player?

I just fear that the move actually holds back the Cowboys to have teams that can compete for several years and how it will be sustainable given the salary cap especially with Pickens and Williams potentially being retained plus the $231 million guaranteed money to Prescott on that 4 year contract.

Not moaning just thinking about the actual long term benefit.
He is almost 28 in December.

Finally!

A legit reason for Dallas Cowboy fans to put faith in store for the following season lol

You mean Dallas traded Micah Parsons and a 2nd round pick for Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark and a 1st round pick.
Actually yes, you are right. I still like the deal though since the Cowboys keep both 2026 firsts. They better hit because there is basically no draft after that.

They will probably trade down with Green Bay’s 1st and get a 2nd and maybe a 3rd or something.

So now since the Jets will get the better of the 2026 first round picks. Team tank is officially off the table.
