yes you do. you even made a myth thread about it. like i said before you know what they mean yet you continue to pick it apart.

Why do the bashers (since we're naming sides) need to exaggerate? If they mean "Roy's strength is not coverage" why can't they say that instead of "Roy can't cover"?

Those two statements have vastly different meanings, and it's not a strawman to refute a statement that is actually made over and over again. If you want to say Jason Taylor is a poor run defender, then you don't say "Jason Taylor can't defend the run". If you do, obviously you're opening yourself up to criticism and a refute for saying something so stupid.

That's the point of the myths. They are in reality stupid exagerations that people have used in the past because they are mentally lazy - and want everyone to interpret "Roy couldn't cover my grandmother" as "Roy struggles covering the best tight ends in the league in 1 on 1 situations."

Clarity is a beautiful thing. Say what you mean. Or don't, and be shown a fool for saying something stupid that you think everyone should interpret your true meaning from.

Those who know nothing about spelling or grammar: Cowboyz88

Carry on.

Wow. The spelling and grammar debate. Never thought I would see that.

Roy couldn't cover my grandpa walking on a seam route.

This does not need to be discussed further.

lots of ifs and mights.

lots? no.. he's basically saying he'd do it.. who's being literal now?

as far as a #8 overall, yes he was.. and he sure played like it his first 4 years.. he might have fallen off some the last two years, but for a 7 year veteran who so many so can't play at all, a 2nd rounder isn't too shabby at all..

I'm not one to ever point out spelling or grammar. I just found it ironic that in his post calling out people's stupidity, he would make so many stupid errors. I wouldn't have called him out if he wasn't essentially calling us Roy "apologists" stupid. It's called irony.

In this article, 3 out of 4 GMs said they would trade nothing for first round pick Chad Johnson. 2 said they wouldn't trade for recent DMVP Jason Taylor, one said they would offer a third, and one suggested a fifth.

There's some perspective on where they are valuing these players.

I still don't believe any of these guys are current GMs.

Those who no nothing about Roy:
These 4 NFL GMs, Terrance Newman, Greg Ellis, Babe Laufenberg, Mickey Spagnola, Clancy Pendergast, Me, Randy Galloway, JJT, JFE, Darren Woodson, Mel Renfro, Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress, You, "Anonymous" Dallas Cowboys team sources (because no one can understand the concept that team employees openly bagging on a player might cost them their job), Vela, Chris Mortensen, and the countless number of others (amateur and professional alike) who, now and always, must be besmirched on this board for daring to question the play of Roy in light of his recent play.

Carry on.
Yet, I've never seen a single one of these persons make a defense of their opinion based on any factual basis whatsoever. I mean, if they all agree, and it's true, shouldn't there be some sort of factual basis to show this?

sports fans get angry or frustrated with players all the time and say things like that. a redsox fan may say "Jason Varitek can't hit" if he's struggling and in a slump. but they know he can hit or he wouldn't be in MLB. a mavs fan could say "Jason Kidd can't shoot" if he goes 2-13 in a game. but they know he can or he wouldn't be in the NBA. many cowboys fans say "Roy Williams can't cover" including an unknown GM if he gets beat and gives up a td. but they know he can or he wouldn't be in the NFL. some people like Adam and i guess yourself take things to literal. If you never heard a fan say stuff like that before and not know what they mean you must be living in a box.

no he said if and might.

plus maybe he's friendly/sympathetic to Roy and didn't want to hatchet him.

either way he was a promising #8 OVERALL PICK who CANT COVER and ultimately that is a waste

Like I said, that myth was ONE THING on a list of 38 (now 48) things that are not true. I didn't "pick it apart," and I don't have to. As abersonc says, anyone with half a brain knows it's not true.

Why someone would complain because something everyone knows isn't true is on a list of things that aren't true is beyond me. Maybe it's because they want to believe it is true?

Yeah, because anyone who says anything good about Roy must be lying.

Bill Parcells, Wade Phillips, Brian Stewart, Dave Campo, Terence Newman, Aaron Glenn, NFL general managers, Darren Woodson, Ronnie Lott, "everybody at Valley Ranch," Ken Hamlin, K.C. Joyner, Football Outsiders, STATS LLC, etc., etc., etc.

All liars.

oh sheesh.. when he said "if", that's simply stating IF he was the team that was trading for Roy, which is essential in this scenario.. when he said he "might" trade a 2nd or 3rd rounder, he's essentially saying he would.. if he wouldn't why not say a 4th or 5th rounder? give me a break.. not to mention the other GM said that Roy is much, much better than any safety you could get in the 3rd round..

and a waste? really? 5 Pro Bowls and tons of highlights and gamechanging plays? how easily we forget.. when you look at the history of wasted 1st round picks in the NFL's history, Roy isn't even CLOSE to being considered a waste..

Adam, I'm bumping this b/c I don't want it lost in the scree.

abersonc;2109049 said:
Can you clarify strength?

You mentioned Ware's strength wasn't the run -- but he's still a pretty good run defender for an OLB. So compared to other OLBs you'd say he's still a good run defender.

How does Roy stack up, to you, against other safeties?

ive seen you go at people who said "roy can't cover" when you knew what they meant yet you go at them to be a message board hero. than you went and created a myth list including "roy can't cover" because you're more insecure about bambi than bambi himself.

aha.. okay, that makes sense.. kinda clever, i'll give him that..

that being said, it amazes me that Cowboys fans can call any player proudly wearing the Star names like that.. Roy's a good guy and bleeds silver and blue.. whether he is a good, bad, great, or average player doesn't really matter- he's a Cowboy, and for Cowboys fans to call a Cowboy something like "Bambi" is ridiculous and disappointing..
