Outstanding article.
So Payton gets a pass for this season but Garrett doesn't? Even though Romo's missed 10 games?
Hilarious!
Bottom line: Garrett isn't going anywhere because unlike the fans, our front office is smart enough to realize that hitting the reset button essentially kills any chance of winning big in the Romo window.
Dallas Cowboys: Moore: Why can't Cowboys find a backup quarterback? Blame Jason Garrett as much as Jerry Jones | SportsDay
Highlights (thanks to TZS)
"I disagree with the assessment that we never do a good job at this,'' Garrett said. "I think we have done a good job at different times with the backup quarterback position.
"Jon Kitna was a good backup quarterback. He was very successful when he had a chance to play in his role.''
[Kitna was trained by Bratkowski in a different shade of Coryell than the Norv and Garrett nonsense. Just like the only other noteworthy backup was also not trained in the Norv or Garrett Coryell either, Orton was trained by Ron Turner who runs a Martz style]
This quote really shows Jason trying to escape from any expectation as a coach:
"The concern always with developing a young guy is if you draft the player too high and your starting quarterback continues to play like you want him to, you are typically developing that guy for another team.''
[He does know what the point of the draft is?]
DO they really think Romo plays til he's 40 - 5 more years?
"I spent 19 years as the NFL columnist for this newspaper, and there's one game that stands out above all others in the 400-plus games I attended during that stretch.
It was played in November 1997 between the Green Bay Packers and Colts at Indianapolis. The Packers were the defending NFL champions on their way to another Super Bowl that season. The Colts were 0-10 and playing a backup quarterback that day.
But Paul Justin, filling in for an injured Jim Harbaugh, outplayed Brett Favre at quarterback and the Colts prevailed, 41-38, on a field goal at the gun. It was a coaching victory, a gameplanning victory, by Lindy Infante and his staff. The Colts ran the ball, milked the clock and Justin played turnover-free football for the upset. I saw that day how coaching can make a difference and help a team win a game it has no business winning.
Coaching has not made a difference for the Cowboys this season...."

Let that sink in for just a moment.....disgraceful.
