Writing/saying whatever he can in the desperate pursuit of readers.

This is a new low, really, but maybe I just don't read his columns as often as others do. Can make an argument for anything between 10-20... maybe even 21, 22.

He asserts that we are #28 of 30 going into the season.

Bayless at least has personality. Goose is more like this guy:

It's damn tough to get read these days. Gosselin's profession abandoned him. It's now run by TMZ and Dead spin.

Adapt or jump ship.

This is Gosselin's MO though. He's been like this for some time. He goes in and talks about how bad the Cowboys are every year.......granted, we haven't won much or had much post season success so I guess he's right but we haven't been nearly as bad as he always predicts us to be. He grades our drafts terribly, our seasons terribly........it is what it is. You know what you get with him.

I rarely read anything he writes since he openly stated he likes to wind Cowboys fans up because of all the hate mail he used to get (and still does). Just another mediot with an agenda, you'll have to get objective commentary elsewhere.

I'd say he's expecting similar results to last year without Romo.

If we still can't win without Romo this ranking might not be far off. Our defense has the possibility of being as bad as 2012 and 2013 which ranked as some of the worse in Cowboy history.

Dak can absolutely make a huge difference but it's an unproven commodity at this time. That's possibly fixing to change. An impressive opening win Sunday will dispel all of the more realistic and negative thoughts .

Bottom line is we really don't know what to expect . Any overly optimistic views at this time are based mostly on some brief preseason performances assuming with a strong running game we will revert to 2014 form without Romo.

I'm taking a wait and see approach and using caution for optimism. I felt even with Romo he was going to have to overcome our defense assuming he could stay healthy.

I'm excited about the potential of Dak, Zeke and this star studded offense but again it's an unproven commodity . The outlook by prognostic sportswriters and fans will flip quickly with winning results .

The offense has plenty of weapons even with a rookie QB who is just a student. They will score some points. Its the defense that will kill the Cowboys this year. There is not an elite player on the unit..excluding Lee..if he can stay healthy.

maybe a little low - but i'd not call that sensationalist.

rookie qb
rookie rb
wr w/injury and pouty history
defense is currently suspended

you can't judge on potential and hope and be realistic.

What if Dak actually plays like a 4th round rookie? Think 28th is possible then? With this defense?

I rather dislike a lot of the stuff Goose whips off. But 28th is defensible. It just requires a bleak, but entirely reasonable (given the history of this league), view of Dak's likelihood of success.

I'm a bit more optimistic myself. So seem you. Can't fault others for failing to be like us.

Good point! Attitudes will swing quickly with winning results . Results do matter.

But I have no problem with overly optimistic hopeful views unless if they don't work out they just make excuses instead of facing reality.

Let's hope these more homeristic fans are seeing it right but aren't they always overly optimistic ?

Realistic doesn't have to be aligned with negative. If your a C student you don't necessarily expect to start making A's until you make a B occasionally. Coming off a D report card from 2015 and not having our star pupil many critics, sportswriters , analysist and fans are being cautious in their excitement for the results this season.

So the Cowboys are starting a Rookie QB, Rookie RB, coming off a 4-12 record, Defense looks like garbage once again, three suspended players including two defensive ends.....and Yet Goose is the problem!!......some are still drunk on the Jerry Jones koolaid

How can you bash a guy when he is right?o_O

Click bait - that's pretty typical of Goose.

Wait...what? You can't seriously believe this team is worse off then 24 other teams in this league. Please provide a list if so...should be good for a laugh.
