Maybe some concise perspective to why I believe this is an example of over-the-cliff sensationalism.

Last season, we were the 4th worst team in the league (using our draft slot as the determinant).

Gosselin actually asserts we go into this season slightly worse than last season... 3rd.

I don't consider myself a sun shine pumper, and I'm not even suggesting the team absolutely deserves a slot in the upper 2/3rds. But in the lowest 10% of the league? No. That's just, as many have agreed, click-baiting.

Goose may have been great at regurgitating what he learned (from real football people) while researching the draft but his logic as a columnist is faulty. According to Goose, if it rained yesterday, it will rain tomorrow. Don't blame him if he's wrong, he's just going off of historical facts.

What if Dak actually plays like a 4th round rookie? Think 28th is possible then? With this defense?

I rather dislike a lot of the stuff Goose whips off. But 28th is defensible. It just requires a bleak, but entirely reasonable (given the history of this league), view of Dak's likelihood of success.

I'm a bit more optimistic myself. So seem you. Can't fault others for failing to be like us.

It is if they're all there. But we're missing 3 of our most talented players on defense and franchise QB. That drops us quite a bit until we see how they do without them .

So, not totally over the cliff as originally posited... but picture Wyle E. Coyote hanging from that branch jutting out from the cliff. I can, at very worst think of us in the lowest 25%... so, 24-ish. To my original point... I just feel like Goose is not even trying to make a serious argument, which is what I always perceive when Skip Bayless if flapping his gums.

I think with Romo and all of our defense we would be ranked in top 15.

I'm not sure how many teams with a potential bottom tier defense and 3 of their most talented defenders out along with4th rd Rookie QB starting would be ranked in top 15 to begin the season?

I'd challenge anyone to find someone out there who does besides some fans on their own site.
