Keep in mind, he didn't have CeeDee...

Any hope for the future?

Or is he simply an average/mediocre QB who can't be a franchise guy?

No shame in being a career backup, but that's not why we traded for him. I really wish he had more than 1 game to show what he could do.
A solid B.

Solid C+.

Probably good have helped us out some this year. Yeah, we wouldn't have been as efficient, but we would've had more splash plays. And in a lost season, that would've given us something to be excited about.

He's got all the tools and for a while, we looked like a real modern NFL offense, making big plays and such. He's able to do things neither of our other QBs can do. Just a shame he can't put it all together.

C+….you see the upside in Lance but the accuracy just isn’t there. Of course just throwing a guy with minimal reps into a week 18 game is typically gonna lead to some issues.

I think some team is going to be very interested in picking him up this offseason, I doubt he’s a cowboy much longer.
I'm not sure about that...yes he has the draft status...but he is also in year 4 and should be much further along. If he is willing to take a $2mm - $3mm year maybe. But $5mm plus most teams would rather have a better back up like Mariota or a draft pick for cheap they can develop.

He should have been getting a couple of series in those blowout losses. Work with him each week. Let him watch tape. Get some first team reps. Let him try to improve and get better as the season rolls along. But sadly we don't have a coaching staff that would do that.

Instead he gets thrown in there and we see passes like the one to Dowdle in the end zone and the one way over Ferg. He needs playing time. He needs reps. Holding a clipboard is a waste of time. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to see that.

He can throw over the middle, has a great arm, can run and has strong pocket presence

But bad accuracy on the edges and doesn’t have touch
Sounds like that’s the same issue he’s had
Don’t see him getting better
Love his physical traits but accuracy is too important …

A+ given for what he had to work with as well poor play calls at times.
And for his first start in Dallas. With no playing time otherwise. Except what 15 plays at the end of a few games. When no passing was really needed.

Yes he was off on some passes. But then again we seen those type of plays many times from our other QB’s as well as other QB’s all around the NFL. Starters and backups.

He moved well and had good pocket presence. Strong arm. Threw some nice passes. Also threw a few horrible passes.

Imagine if he had started the entire season. That player would be far different than the Lance of today. Dak has had 9 seasons with Dallas. Lance has exactly 1 start. He's young and inexperienced- but has things you can't teach. Size, speed, and arm strength. Needs better accuracy. Would love to be able to develop him. Too bad Dallas does not control his rights. Never understood that aspect of the trade.

If he had Rush's ability to play quarterback to go along with his athletic ability you would have a superstar. The way it stands, give me Rush for QB2

What he really looked like was a guy we wanted to see play an extended stretch of games this year and it's another front office fail that he didn't.

You gained nothing playing Cooper Rush.
Absolutely maddening that we played Rush for so long. We would've lost just the same with Lance; at least we could've been entertained with passes that traveled over 4 yards. And how do you miss the opportunity, from a player development standpoint, to have 5-6 real NFL games for your untested QB to learn the ropes?

B for better than expected. He looked poised and in control of the offense. Found the open guys all day, but missed on some throws that should've been completed. He's worth keeping around and developing as a backup with a high ceiling.

Agreed and he has so much athleticism that if they could help him take the next step he really could develop in a couple of years...I'd love to see him be the backup to dak and plan to have him take over in year 3 or 4 of daks dumb extension
