These people keep talking about potential. Some of these guys are 3 or 4 years in and people talk about "potential". At some point you have to believe what your eyes show you. This may be it for him. This may be who he is as a player. He looks exactly like he did his rookie season.
Same goes for Dak.

Lance MIGHT make a decent backup for a few games...maybe. Would he be better than Rush as backup? I don't know. If we don't get a different backup, which of the two would be cheaper on the cap? That's how I look at it. Personally, I think while Rush did a decent job as backup, they should always be looking to upgrade in the off-season.

Ok. Just somewhere not named Dallas. Maybe the eagles name him their starter next year. But that won’t happen because they have a good GM.
Trey Lance is a bust and not a starting QB, if you make him tailback then he has a chance

D-

No throws to the interior of the field. One read and take off. Only sees half of the field. Only takes the ball in shotgun. Every passing play is a rollout play leaving half of the field unused.

No touch on the ball. Inconsistent. Poor accuracy. Zero ability to throw the receiver open. No anticipation ability.

He is every defensive coordinators wet dream. A two year old could easily build a game plan against him.

....but actually better than Cooper?
That’s not a very high bar.

Neither one of them are going to make a significant difference. There are a handful of really good backup QBs. Guys who could, on a good team, win a playoff game.

Neither Rush nor Lance have that in them.

He was fine, considering the lack of reps and dust he's accumulated in five years.

Much more dynamic than Rush, for sure. Infinitely more mobile, and quicker release. Didn't have the touch for some of the throws today, but that's totally understandable.

If people believed what their eyes said on Dak this place would be a lot more tolerable lol.

What I mean is he can make the simple throws. Lance has more velocity on his throws but he has no idea how to place his throws. It’s some of the worst I’ve seen come through here.
I kinda get that, given that Lance has been standing on the sideline with hands in pockets for five years.

Feel the same way about Deuce. The guy could probably do some surprising things if he actually got into the game for a few plays in a row.

The Cowboys have an idiotic, myopic mindset when it comes to player development. They make up their minds beforehand who their "guys" are. ("We like our guys.") Anybody else gets the odd play, here or there, and if it's not a big play, back to the bench they go.

Dowdle would have never gotten out of the blocks had Zeke not crashed & burned. Jerry doesn't care who can play, or who can't. He wants "name guys" everywhere. Jersey sales, and all that.

Why in the world would you not want him in Dallas? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I believe Trey Lance has possibilities as a backup with additional experience to enhance his skill level. Eventually, he possibly might merit starting, although, he could require a few years to arrive at that level of expertise. I felt he displayed improved passing skills in game 17. Perhaps he'll even learn to remain stoic and lower the height of passes that WRs can't reach when he throws under stress. I was surprised to see the number of passes that he managed to complete. I didn't expect to see him improve to that extent. Whether he's retained or not, we'll have yet to learn. C+

That touchdown he missed to Rico.....I don't think i've ever seen someone do that. That told me he just doesn't have it. A four year pro even with limited game age can make that throw. that's something Rush could do easily.
To be fair, it was a broken play.

he should have been sacked.
