If just looking at this trade alone it's a C considering the cap space and clearing a player that the organization soured on.

However, thinking about the draft capital given up for Cooper the move in its entirety was a failure. Though Cooper was productive, have to think about it as if we just jettisoned our 27th overall pick in the 2019 draft who was a dissapointment.

All the butthurt people voting F bc Amari is SOOOO good we got a 5th round pick for him lol

I think people are voting F not just for this trade, but for everything we gave up for Amari. Just another wide receiver trade since Michael Irvin that bites the dust. At least we got a few years and winning seasons out of this one.

Let the front office know what you think of the trade. Keep in mind the salary cleared off the books.

Browns - Amari Cooper, 6th round pick swap

Cowboys - 5th, 6th round pick swap (9 spots higher), 16 million in cap relief
Dalla projected to get another 5th round through FA compensation to make 3 total (their own and the one just acquired from Cleveland).
I wanted their extra 4th round pick ( Browns have one @ #114 and a second @ 124).
Obviously the Cowboys priority was shedding the salary and getting "something" in return rather than the outright release of Cooper. - no matter how meager the return was.

It's a straight F from me. How can it be anything else. You trade a first round pick for him, sign him to an extension and then shop him for peanuts in a supposed 'hot market' a couple of years later. Just ludicrous when he is a top 10-15 receiver in the NFL and only 28.

If it's solely because of the Lawrence, Elliott and Prescott contracts then it's even worse.

Unless there is something we don't know about that is not in the public domain.

For those of you thinking this is anything but an F, take a look at this list of trades in 2021. All are WRs.

Player - Pick - Team Trading Pick
Trinity Benson - 5th - Det
Randal Cobb - 6th - GB
Julio Jones - 2nd, and conditional 4th - Ten
Anthony Miller - 5th round (they traded a 7th) - Hou

Cooper is a true number 1. Unfortunately he played for a QB not interested in developing chemistry.

Feels like year after year, the league is in collusion to make up for the Herchel Walker trade.

jerry is tanking ( his new lil'girl is making him nervous )buss. he's okay but football and personal life he's a train wreck every time he trades or let's go of a player or anything to do with football bad things happen. and for all you cowboy fans don't worry there will be draft after draft after draft and we will still be bottom feeders and for those that don't think look around at the rest of the league then you will get the picture. just forget there a football team anf make believe its a remake of bugs bunny and elmer fudd

D-
1. Trade first round draft choice for a receiver to prop up an underperforming quarterback
2. Grossly overpay that receiver who then misses games for reasons that could’ve been avoided and he disappears in the middle of games in which he plays.
3. Said receiver gets into bitter shouting match with quarterback he was sent here to save after embarrassing playoff loss where the final play was a run up the middle with no time outs instead of a pass to said Number One receiver
4. Realize that the contract that you gave him is destroying your cap, which is a now a real thing.
5. Trade former first round pick for a fifth round pick.
6. Homers rejoice over how the front office managed to get a fifth round pick (which cost us a first) and dump his salary (that we gave him) instead of getting nothing
7. Underperforming quarterback is now without receiver sent to save him. Left with one WR with a case of the dropsies and a second with a torn ACL.

Winning!
