Greg Ellis = 8 year veteren who can play OLB an DE very well

Burnett = Second year player who has never started and can't rush for the 3 point stance

Carp = Rookie who has never played more than 10 snaps in a game

Singleton = An average backup

Yea but you aren't considering their draft positions, that's all that you really need to know about how good a player is.

Burnett has not shown enough to be given the starting job. He flashed some good moments against the Titans and that probably earns him more playing time, but not enough to trade away a solid starter. If Burnett, Singleton and Carpenter could truly produce the way Ellis, Burnett and Singleton can, then you may consider the trade. I don't like they would. I also don't think teams would give up too much for Ellis. Weird, Ellis is good for Dallas, but probably not good enough for other teams to give up much for hiim. The best that Dallas can get is to keep him.

If Burnett and even Carpenter for that matter are developing and impacting the team, they will find the field. Ellis won't hold them back.

I believe he leads us in sacks so far this year, why would we get rid of him?

not exactly a great accomplishment.

What would you describe as an accomplishment then? I'm not a huge Ellis fan but his production is steady and, amazing as it sounds, his attitude has to be a big help in the locker room right now. I don't understand why we would want to get rid of him.

Hey, he has more sacks than Osi and Strahan combined.

How is this bad?

FWIW, Ratliff leads us in sacks.

Do you think Greg Elliss is expendable for a trade. I really haven't noticed him being particularly great at OLB, and he is keeping Bobby Carpenter off of the field. And with Burnett playing real well yesterday, and the depth of Singleton who also had a couple of good plays, I think we are good at OLB. Burnett apparently can rush the passer as he had 2 sacks, and Carp should be ok at rushing. I think we would be better off with those two, providing more athleticism and speed.

So could we trade ellis?

thoughts?

He's our best pass rusher - he's not expendable.

no, but there are times i'd love to trade some fans who just insist on trading for the sake of trading.

if he's keeping carp off the field there's likely a GOOD reason for it. we could trade away *all* our starters and get other guys on the field.

watch a new series coming to TV called "the campo years" with that little short dude from the wonder years playing the part of campo. no role set yet for winnie.

Why? I think we could get the same production from burnett/carp/singleton...

No we wouldn't. Singleton just isn't as good as Ellis, and you can't even argue upside. Burnett and Carpenter, are more cover guys and run support. I think it would miss use them to have them rush the majority of the time.
