Interesting on the Judge according to TheFan. She is a Women's rights activist, it was an election year, and she campaigned to be the judge on his trial.
I agree.
You either have to believe the criminal justice system is so flawed that a conviction can be handed down with no evidence at all, or just accept the fact that there is more evidence the public is allowed access too, was found guilty because of it, and that he paid his way out.
Would he have been convicted had it gone to a jury? Who knows, but he damn sure did everything he could to make sure it didn't come to it.

It's painful when people have no clue about the legal system.
the ones that refuse to even consider this are the ones screaming the loudest about Hardy.
All you have to do is a little digging and you will realize that the case never would have gotten very far except for a bad judge.
The Witness had a bad reputation and was known for lying.
There was virtually no physical evidence which in the end made it he said she said.
The Judge decided to make sure that a famous person was going to get convicted and that was all that mattered.
Here they are:
The fact remains that the DA was prepared to go to trial if he had his star witness. Yes, the DA could have gone ahead using just the transcript. But why would he? The chances of getting a conviction under those circumstances are remote.
So, the more I hear about this, the more I'm willing to just blindly guess what probably went on. Here's what I think as of right now, which is subject to change when any real info comes out.
I think she and Hardy had a really dysfunctional relationship that revolved mostly around the lifestyle he could delver and sex. It sounds like she was working other angles with other 'boyfriends' and that Hardy didn't like that. Then it boiled over one night (who knows if her other relationship was the start of the argument, or what) at a get-together. It was late night, she'd been taking drugs. He probably had, too. He told her to leave. She refused. He insisted, she refused. Some dramatics and probably some mutual aggression (she slaps him, he shakes her, that sort of thing). She still refuses to leave. He has her arm and is trying for force her to leave, she says he's hurting her and going to break her arm. He says he will break her arm if she won't go. Maybe she throws herself in the tub at one point, he grabs her by her hair/drags her by her hair trying to force her to go. She says she's going to report that he's abusing her over this so far. He throws her on the couch (probably with guns, who knows) and tells her he'll shoot her if she goes to the press. She still won't go (he's her sugardaddy, after all) and eventually flips her business in her coke rage, starts throwing shoes and breaking stuff. He realizes this has gone on way more than it should have, and he calls 911 and tells his manager/PA to restrain her to keep her from making things worse than they are.
She realizes the gig is over. Goes to the press (she didn't think he was really going to kill her). There was evidence of abuse. But her story doesn't check out because she's trying to paint him as the sole aggressor when really he was hurting and threatening her trying to get her to leave. Her flakiness and the problems with her testimony are enough to get to the bench trial, but it's also the cause of her lawyer quitting and the root of some of the inconsistencies between that bench trial and the police report. She's flaky after this (this reputation as a gold digger probably impacts the lifestyle she wants to have fairly dramatically. Hard to fly around sleeping with athletes and musicians when you have an open civil case against your last boyfriend). Hardy offers a quiet settlement to make the problem go away before court and, more importantly, before the start of free agency. She wisely takes it knowing the trial is bad pub for her and knowing that her story is also full of holes and embarrassing details. And, we get what we've got here today.
Which is two really dysfunctional people living really unsustainable lifestyles. One of whom can play football at a very high level but really needs a lot of direction and support.
That's my take on the story, and I"m sticking to it until I hear something that makes me believe otherwise.

Made for TV movie.
One toss by him would have broke her in half.
Right?
Not sure why I just typed all that out, because I'm completely pulling it out of my butt. And it's not meant to vindicate Hardy, who's clearly hurting her on purpose in that scenario. I can just see it going down like that and it explains most of the he-said, she-said, and both people's motivations.
