Gregory absolutely had a chance to play.............he chose not to.

With that said, I'm not against him coming back. He can play.
:hammer:This. Although he's had ample opportunities to play/participate. Would love to see him beat the odds and play out the rest of his potential. He could be an outstanding player and an example for others of fighting off the demons to turn his life around.

RGregory doesn't have a problem with weed....... he has a problem with the NFL rules

He has obviously chosen marijuana as part of his daily maintenance routine

I guess that is one way to look at it yet it was Gregory saying how stupid it was for him before the combines to get high and apologized for it and talked about it never happening again. He had a handle on it, yet continues to fail drug test. I think his problem is addiction and if it is a problem with the rules then fine he made his choice not to play in the NFL. There is always Canada.

I have a problem with the NFL rules, too!

A lot of folks do. A lot of players do. The people playing the game.

This will be changed, eventually, but by then RG's career window will have long since passed.

Tragedy. Over a plant.

Because the plant isn't regulated and monitized by pharma and the guvment,... yet. The NFL (and society) is fine with you being addicted/abusing certain plants or chemicals,as long as they are on the correct list and the overloards can make enough $$$ from it.

Maybe but then he was not doing anything when he was playing, as a young player he was developing but all that development goes out the window and he would be starting from square 1 given all the time he has missed. Like any player entering the league he needs to be at practice, at OTA and on the field. He has lost a lot of time for a guy who was still far from being a productive player

Being a hug Nebraska fan, I watched every game that he played in and always witnessed a man among boys. The dude can ball. He will significantly upgrade the d-line. Yet, I continue to read people's comments about him being a JAG, washed up and a has been. If the dude smacked his girlfriend around, I'd jump in with my JAG comment. If the dude disciplined his child by whipping him with a switch, I'd be the first to sign the 'Get the F out of the NFL' petition. If the dude stole underwear and cologne from the neighborhood JC Penny, I'd have fun photo-shopping his mugshot. The dude smoked weed. Weed. Most of you haters would be hitting the J with him if you were hanging out. So get off the dude's back. I, for one, can't wait to watch him play again and will be happy to resume being a Randy Gregory fan. Weed rant over!!!

He was a great player in college, he has yet to prove anything at this level except that he can't stay clean. He has wasted a lot of time, time he needed to develop at this level of play. If he does return it is back to square 1 of learning and developing as a player and he will have to show he is a person this team can count on, not a situation where when the next drug test happens the Cowboys are stuck once again and having to look to the streets to find a replacement.

I don't wish bad on him but part of being on a team is being able to be counted on to be there.

What is he up to?
My fear is if he can get reinstated, by that point, how good of a shape will he be in physically/mentally?
He would of been away from football/the Cowboys in general for quite some time.

I believe this will be his last shot at an NFL career, atleast in Dallas.

It doesn't matter how good a player is if he's not playing what good does he do?

I get it. We already wasted (so far) a draft pick on him. It would be a complete mental/physical overhaul for him to be productive but he does have the physical foundation to play. Few (in his case) have ever accomplished that kind of turn around. I'm not holding my breath at this stage of his "career" so far.

Is he being tested regularly still? Since he has to "apply for reinstatement" does that mean he is not part of the NFL and ergo, not being tested?

He played one game last year and was the best pass rusher on the field that day and was out of shape. I'm all for it, but I have a feeling he's smoked since then and continues to do so. If he hasn't though I'm all for it. I don't care what he has done I just want to win! Give me Dlaw, Collins, Irving, and Gregory on the 4 man line and look out folks.

Clearly an uphill battle and in the meantime he has to stay clean. 1 slight hiccup and he is gone, there is no margin for error.
