Gregory can apply reinstatement Nov 6

In just a little over month from now, he's eligible to apply for reinstatement. I hate to say this but with Randy, being eligible and clean are two different things. My approach is ANYTHING we can get from him THIS YEAR is gravy. Hard to imagine his conditioning anywhere close to NFL playing standards.

Randy Gregory's season is over after two games. The NFL announced Thursday the Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman is suspended without pay for "at least one year" for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Nick Eatman of the Cowboys' official website passed along the news, noting Gregory is ineligible for the team's playoff run. The team announced guard La'el Collins would take Gregory's spot on the roster.

Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network provided the official statement:

Gregory can apply for reinstatement on Nov. 6, 2017, 60 days prior to the one-year anniversary of his suspension, per Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
I say no to this year, unless it means cutting Kellen Moore.

Fyi, that's pretty much my take on any midseason acquisition going forward:. No, unless we cut the proverbial tit off the board hog.

There's really not that many people I'd cut to make room for Gregory. I mean there's obviously Kellen Moore, but I *hope* he gets cut when we're ready to bring up Rico Gathers. I guess at that point we wouldn't need all 4 RBs...the Elliott suspension drama should be concluded by then, but I wouldn't cut Noah Brown, Jonathan Cooper, any of the DEs, Brian Price (just because he's a DT to be honest), any of the LBs and likely only Bene in the secondary, but I think he goes to make room for Irving.

Since we're on the subject, what are the odds that the Jets claim Bene Benwikere if we release him?

In Gregory's case he couldn't be in contact with the team or at the affiliates so
how the team has kept up with his behavior will be important.
If somehow they are confident he's been clean and had been conditioning then
there is certainly someone on the team less skilled then Gregory.

A year from when he was suspended. He can apply for reinstatement 60 days prior to that date. So not technically the whole 2017-2018 season.
The NFL will never act before the end of the season...... not a chance

Plus I heard he already failed another test this summer........ he ain't coming back

I honestly ask, is it worth it? Does he give us anything Lawrence or Tapper or anybody doesn't?

Gregory has freakish first step. The question is does he fit in that locker room. Do core players like Zeke need Dallas adding blunt smokers. Most of all, what has Gregory been doing for past year. Is he changed man or is he just waiting out NFL on changing its stance on marijuana. Personally, I think if weed helps Gregory deal with anxiety then let the man help himself. The drug doesn't give him competitive advantage and he isn't risk to society. Time to wake up NFL.

I like that approach. So, every time we hear, "xxx is available, let's kick the tires", the next response should be, "cut Kellen Moore". We can start a movement.

:flagwave:

Gregory = pot smoking, beast-man to play LDE

um, yeah, come on down....if we can have all of the OTHER headaches with this team, might as well add this minor inconvenience to the squad...pretty soon, pot will be an "ok" thing in the minds of the NFL...it's legal in many states

This movie still cracks me up - irreverent, rude, slapstick - it has it all. Interestingly enough, I worked in Kazakhstan about the time the movie came out. While there are small villages similar to the one depicted in the film, the country itself is culturally fascinating.

The ethnic Kazakhs are descendents from the Mongolian hordes and make up about 70%+ of the population. The rest are predominately Slavic.

I could go on for hours.... But fortunately, I won't :)

I have to remind all Cowboys fans, that our country is established on the principal of paying the price and then being given the opportunity to prove oneself, at least.

In the NFL, the bargained product is achievements on the carpet. He still presents an opportunity to be a good NFL player. If he fails the retainment rules, then he's out of options. Until then, and with his talent potentials, he warrants a cheap trial. He still might succeed and is at the age that he should be in the beginning of his top production levels as a defensive end.

Training Camp would be a good trial for proving field abilities involved...

I'm hoping for D. Ware.

D. Ware down the stretch is what we need.

I have to say I don't trust him, I don't trust that he can be counted on. I hope for the best but expect the worse. For me he has lost all benefit of the doubt. There is little any team can do about players getting injured and missing time, the team suffers when they lose that player to injury. In Gregory case it is his own lack of control that puts him at risk and puts any team he is on at risk.

I'm expecting Roger Goodell to do us a solid and expedite the return of Randy here, we are really getting to a good place with our relationship with the league right now, very enjoyable.

Woot woot woot

If we get this guy back, by the mid-late end of next season, we will have two potential pro-bowlers at the ends.

Gregory is fire. Gregory is a potential elite, All-Pro right end

We can literally wreak havoc come the playoffs.. he knocks off the rust... and then....
