Let me say this, Gregory will NOT be suspended. He will win his appeal and not only that he will never fail another drug test while he plays in the NFL....or miss a test either.

Don't need any negative comments but just remember what I said when it comes true

We all know this. Just posting the update.

The status of Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory will be known before the Cowboys open the playoffs next week, the Fort Worth Star-Telegam reported Wednesday evening.

Gregory flew to New York Tuesday to appeal a pending suspension of at least a year for missing a drug test.

Gregory, who was back with the team Wednesday, said he doesn’t know what the final outcome of his appeal hearing will be. He was suspended for the first 14 games of this season for two violations of the league’s substance abuse policy. He withdrew an appeal of that suspension in September.

The Cowboys haven’t had Gregory available long enough to have him a key part of their plans, but he recorded his first career sack in last weekend’s regular-season finale.

Sure hope DEAN BLANDINO is not on this appeal panel, too! I hate the politics of Goodell. And I hate Dean Blandino

I feel like a complete moron and like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football once again but....

What a joke. Talk about making a mockery of your credibility.

They've had all season to ponder the evidence, and the best they can do is hear the appeal 3 weeks after he's become eligible to play, and the decision will be made "sometime before the playoff game".

So, Dallas is just supposed to give him practice snaps, and then he's suspended and they wasted those reps, or they hold him out of snaps, and he's not suspended and then he lost valuable practice time. All before the most important game of the season.

Completely ridiculous. Even if this was another team, that "process" is absurd.

I hope you are right my friend, Gregory has the talent to be a very good player if he can just resist the need to get high.

I think he has learned his lesson and this last one wasn't a fall because of drugs. It was counted as a fail but he missed it cause he was in rehab. People keep saying well the NFL will seems the test to them and my question is.....then why didn't they?

As a Cowboy fan It's tragic because we saw a glimpse of. what he could be, he was getting after it, looked good against the pass and the run. With a full season of experience under his belt, this guy could have been dominant.
You couple him with Lawrence and that had the potential of turning a weakness into a strength.

It seems to me that playoff teams are unfairly penalized unless I misunderstood.

So, if the league just happens to decide to expidite this ruling, Gregory is out during the playoffs? Has there ever been a circumstance where the league decided to wait on a ruling until after the playoffs? If so, then the policy is not applied consistantly and so any team would have the right to question motives.

The Cowboys knew the risks associated with this kid when they drafted him.

This is the down side of taking those kinds of risks.

I would be more concerned with re-evaluating the Cowboy's draft philosophy relative to the 2nd round moving into this off-season than I would about any hand-wringing over Mr. Gregory.

Might need a look.

At the end of the day, yes, the Cowboys knew the risk. But you cannot tell me the way all of this has been handled does not suggest shady back room handshake deals.

There is blame on all sides here and it starts with our boy randy, but the nflpa should be drawn and quartered for ever giving this much power to roger goodell
Lets hope this gets fixed in the next agreement. All this testing business should ,at most, be kept inhouse and dealt with by the Clubs management.

The NFL is one of the most corrupt, socialistic, byzantine organizations on planet Earth. So I don't know exactly what you are expecting.

Transparency? If so, ok. Rage on.

This whole sad business has been blown way out of proportion if compared to his infraction. He only failed to appear for a test. Its not like he murdered someone. It just doesn't make any logical sense to destroy a young boys career over this.

he is nothing more than a "nice to have" pass rushing specialist. Our run D is less effective with him in there-- he has not shown that he knows how to keep contain and play gap control-- yes I know he had a couple TFLs-- but trust me, he is not a +run defender..

I don't think we've seen Randy Gregory play enough NFL football to classify him as anything yet.

The fact that we had to cut a DE (Moore), who was picked up by another team, to make room for Gregory pisses me off. Now we may have Mayowa and, possibly, a gimpy D-Law. The player that could've provided some weakside DE depth was cut so we could have a guy play a couple of meaningless games before the playoffs? That's BS. The timing of these decisions continues to be arbitrary and always seems to screw us. I hate Goodell (and Mara) and have no idea why the other owners (and the NFLPA for that matter) put up with their garbage.
