He's not a CB. He isn't supposed to jump routes and make interceptions on a regular basis.

As a FS he is supposed to roam and help out on coverage and every now and then be in the right place at the right time.

thats cool however people expect this for RW.

Fuzzy memory...........I recall in the first game of the year, I believe it was in the first quarter where Hamlin was one on one with Shockey on a 4th down and he knocked the ball away. He had no help, so maybe he cant guard recievers one on one but he can guard tight ends 1 on 1 very well. Of course if that was our other safety on that play it would be an automatic first down for the Giants.

I don't see how you can cite one instance as him being able to cover TE's very well that is a ridiculous assumption and the way you came to that conclusion is silly.

ANYONE who thinks Watkins has shown the ability to play anywhere near the level of Hamlin has no football knowledge at all and should be ignored.

Anyone who thinks Hamlin has peformed at a high level has no football knowledge and should be ignored. Once again he is just a product of Wade's 3-4 system and can be easily replaced.

I haven't checked but I bet you couldn't find another FS that played under Wade as the HC or DC who could match what Hamlin did last season.

Then again, Wade has been around a while but guaranteed there aren't enough to consider it all product of the system.

don't confuse the poor guy with facts like that. He is busy making offerings on the altar of Watkins.

I believe, in the end, that Hamlin will get a long term deal here to help solidify that secondary a bit.

Wow. That's kind of silly relating to the way you support Roy Williams.

Hamlin is making 'defensive calls' for the secondary. You would get a different feel if Hamlin were gone.

If anyone in the secondary could be replaced and the production would be the same it would be Roy bro. I think Keith Davis stinks, but I didn't notice much difference in the SS play in that Carolina game where Roy was at home on suspension.

I really like Hamlin, and I believe in Stephen and Jerry. If they really want to keep him, which it sounds like they do, then they'll find a way to resign him. Stephen and Jerry are pretty darn good at what they do.

That's a pretty foolish statement considering all of the FS's we've shuffled through since Woodson retired.Hamlin made his fair share of mistakes, missed tackles and busted coverages... but he played much better than anyone we've had in quite some time.

plz don't lock up Hamlin we when end up regretting it. We can insert random FS and get the same results.

Bill Parcells tried that for 3 years and it didn't work. So....no, thats not true.

I don't think 90 tackles at the SS position in 15 games is as easily replace as 60 tackles in 16 games. I know that there were about 7 out of the 32 SS in the NFL that had takles ranging in the 90+ one of them was RW so who is going to replace him? Keith Davis had one tackle in that Carolina game you wouldn't have even knew hew on the field because he had zero impact and I'm pretty sure steve smith blew past him a couple of times. If the camera's focused in on Hamlin after every miscue in the 2ndary your perception would be different. I've seen RW be on the bench us give up a TD and the camera is on him.

Once again it isn't hard to be better than what we had at the position since Woody. Drew Bledsoe was the best we had since Aikman at the position until Romo hit the scene.
