Why'd the other thread get deleted?

Generally better to PM a mod for this stuff if you have questions about a moderation decision, but since this is an illustrative question, I'll take a stab.

I didn't move it, but my guess would be the other thread was nothing but a link that linked to a site that's blocked on CZ and that the thread was removed because it was basically a dead end. And we already had this thread handy to announce the release of the photos to those we were interested.

Yeah, I don't understand the outrage. I learned nothing new in the article. He beat her up. That was already known. The outrage should have been around already.

Oh, there are plenty of people who will learn something from those photos. What they have learned has yet to be determined.

That's still not credible evidence, and not exactly what the prosecutor said. The prosecutor said they suspected she settled, not that she did for a fact. The prosecutor never produced any evidence of this.

what wasn't clear in the following statement to the court??

The prosecutor also told Superior Court Judge Robert Sumner that Holder had agreed to a settlement with Hardy, which heads off any civil lawsuits she might file in connection with the case. No dollar amount was mentioned.

Hardy is obviously an unstable, dangerous human being. Everyone who is enabling him right now will have blood on their hands when he does it again.

Wow ........... I mean ........

Its crazy what people will accept as long as the guy can play football.

He is an amazing football player ....... but I do not want the piece of trash on this team

I'll take this piece of trash because with Greg Hardy the Cowboys a legit Super Bowl contender if healthy. We're as good as anyone in the league and probably would've been right up there with Cincinatti, New England, and Denver for the best record in football. We can be a dominant football team with him. That's what it's all about. Winning championships not trying to PR and dump a guy because he had an off field issue.

Gotcha. I didn't create that thread but I was just curious.

What you hope is that he's got a support structure around him like we given a lot of troubled players over the years. You can't guarantee that something like this won't happen again, but you can lessen the chances. You're definitely playing with fire though. If you sign him long term, it might blow up in your face. You absolutely have to structure a deal that lets you bail on the contract if something like this happens again.

Snipping to save space. IIRC there was plenty of discussions regarding Peterson. Especially when the pictures were leaked. The Vikings and Peterson weathered the storm.
Same will happen with Dallas and Hardy. Buckle up.

There were no ESPN roundtables, IIRC...no special ESPN OTL episodes, no Katie Nolan's being disgusted for reporters talking to Peterson.

The timeline is really the same outside of the pictures being leaked.

Before the season started, both Hardy and Peterson were involved with their respective crimes. Both played in week 1 and both of their respective teams decided (for whatever reason one cares to interpret) to sit them out for the rest of the season.

And now they are both back playing football.

Except, there's NOBODY saying that Adrian Peterson should not be playing in the NFL. And they press is not taking time to go after Peterson. It's as if they feel he has served his punishment and should be allowed to play, no questions asked. Yet Hardy has served MORE punishment than Peterson and they believe that he should serve even more punishment or just be banned from football all together.

Rampant hypocrisy.

Again, they don't care about Nicole Holder. They only care about the Cowboys signing a great player and the threat of him being re-signed about the Cowboys. If Hardy was playing for ANY other team...I have my doubts that any of this would be going on based on good evidence from the Peterson case.

It would have been big news regardless. It's just bigger because it's the Cowboys.

Just a note about this, because it's going to come out. The story people are quoting here is one that's original content for a domain that's blocked on CZ. Please don't try to circumvent the block in order to get the link to work. You all know how to get to the pictures if you want to see them.

And, please, everybody just exercise respect in discussions about the issue of domestic abuse. Remember that this is an issue that affects more than the principals who were involved in the Hardy case. We will have fellow fans who've been touched by abuse in some way or fashion in their lives. We've all got mothers, daughters, sons, husbands, children. Let's have honest discussions without resorting to insensitivity that leads to threads being closed and posting privs suspended.

Thanks.

I generally agree, but I will say, a lot of the Hardy talk had died down, too, before he made the comments about Giselle and had the incident where he slapped the coach's keyboard. Had Peterson been doing similar things, he'd probably be getting a lot of coverage, too. Not Dallas-level coverage, but he'd be getting the MIN equivalent.

What is clear is that you misunderstand a line from an article as the actual statement from the prosecutor.

IIRC the pictures in Petersons case were released while he was suspended. So, it's been a while since the photos have been leaked, and people stopped caring. The pictures for Hardy just got released, so now oblivious people are wondering why Hardy is playing, even though he sat out last year(team enforced), and 4 games this year(NFL suspension)

I agree there is hypocrisy. Media loves this type of stuff. It generates clicks, views etc. The fact Hardy is a Cowboy is icing on the cake. In a year, no one will care.

This. You see it all the time in politics. If something bad is going to come out, you want it all out there quickly so you can deal with it. Attention spans are short and people will forget/move on. This slow trickle of information just drags all of it up again every single time it leaks.

I would think this will be the last of it though.

I don't either but nothing we can do. I'll always be a Cowboy fan. What I get a kick of is people trying to defend him. There's no doubt in my mind if he was on another team he'd be universally attacked. If he was an Eagle it would only give me another reason to hate them.
