So would they deliver the verdict today or what?

I'm not sure now because they are going to eat for an hour, then come back. That sounds strange...because I would think the judge would have recessed until tomorrow?

if you're gonna look at "past history" - you really need to do it for both parties.

The history of the victim is fairly irrelevant. Unless he is a previously convicted murderer. Which I don't think he was.

if he's quick to react violently, i would think it would be relevant, esp if zimmerman says he came up to him looking to start trouble.

How can anyone suggest beyond a reasonable doubt that Zimmerman wasnt acting in self defense?

Didn't think he deserved the 2nd degree murder charge but should've been convicted of manslaughter. If you look at the definition for that, it's exactly what Zimmerman did.

From everything I heard they didn't come close to proving the case. I don't think they ever wanted to prosecute him because they didn't have the evidence. Political pressure prevailed and it was all a big waste of time and money.

Yup, I agree, I also thought the verdict would be manslaughter. A 17 year old unarmed kid is shot and killed for no reason, had Zimmerman stay in his truck, TM would still be alive.

Oh well, it is what it is and we've seen worse in our almighty judicial system.

As I said earlier, this is a difficult case to simply ignore personal opinion and just focus on the facts of the case. I just never felt as if the prosecution had proven enough to convict Zimmerman on any count.

It's certainly tragic and I am sorry that a young man is dead but the fact remains that the prosecution really didn't prove the case IMO.

I cant say I disagree with the verdict.
It proved too difficult to say without a reasonable doubt, Zimmerman did not act in self defense.

Everyone should have saw this coming. Second degree murder charge was too strong.

Maybe he did or didn't, he is dead and he can't defend himself so we'll never know what really took place during the initial confrontation.

Also, Zimmerman could have identified himself as a Neighborhood Watch as well but he didn't.

Because nobody actually knows what happened.

At the most basic level he was acting in self defense but that doesn't explain how the entire event came about and all they have to go off of is George's shaky account of the situation.

If someone were to instigate a fight and begin to get pummeled, does self defense still apply? I don't see how it could.
